Congrats Telemaque et al !!!!!! Goldie that's awesome, I really am SO happy for you!

This is officially brutal.

Wow, what a morning! Congrats to all the admits and big hugs to all those hit with rejections. If you were accepted and you are currently ecstatically over the moon, please do enjoy it there. You deserve it and the rest of app season should be smooth friggin sailing. Now, does somebody want to claim these Stony Brook admits? Good things come to those who wait, good things come to those who wait.........

That's a wonderful outlook Safferz. Having the strongest possible application is truly only half the battle, and I'm proud of the fact that I even put together an app that I would consider submitting to Yale. Plus they could totally still call me or put me on a wait list, or offer me a funded MA, or even an unfunded MA............

That sucks guys. I'm so sorry. It's insane that they got 600 applicants. I hope it's not part of a broader trend.......... Anyone else with Northwestern news??

I love the Lit boards. -
SD, That sucks..... That's a brutal way to find out as well. At least you weren't expecting anything.

Rochester!! Congrats! Care to share?
-
Where are you guys getting these minutes??! That sounds like a potential gold mine of neurosis-inducing data..... Also, congrats to the NYU interviewee! Care to update us on what the heck is going on with that program?
-
Congrats Goldie!!!!!! And of course congratulations to the Berkeley and UI-UC admits!

Eddie Jacobson - Harry Truman's business partner and the guy who helped convince him to recognize the State of Israel - was never at the Truman home because Bess was a virulent anti-Semite.

Hey Meg, I am your fellow UMass applicant..... Yes, the wait is driving many of us bonkers if you hadn't noticed. As Nate pointed out, there is no sure thing until you have that piece of paper in your hand, so this is very harrowing. Good luck, and welcome to the loony bin. Oh, and do PM me if you want to discuss UMass POIs or gripe about that website.........

The ones i get from Adobe Systems Incorporated really piss me off

If you must call somebody call the grad school and speak to a secretary. Don't call the department!!! I too am friggin losing it, but it can only hurt to call. Really? Nobody for SUNY?
-
I'm pretty sure that pigeon message would be the only helpful way to do it. As several have pointed out, they have a heckuva lot on their plates and calling them will only hurt you..... The Stony Brook post is very strange.Their deadline was only two weeks ago. Whoever posted it can PM if he/she would prefer!

Anybody care to claim Stony Brook?? When it rains it pours........
-
Hey guys, I'm sorry for my emotional explosion about UVA...... I totally erupted in a wave of self-pity after ONE acceptance - it was thoroughly irrational. I just really love that program. But I promise, no more melodramatic freakouts. Sorry!
-
Oh, the emotional roller coaster that is February...... I must cling to my promising news and not fixate on the disappointment, I must cling to my promising news and not fixate on the disappointment.
-
Congrats!!!!!!! I just PMed you....
-
Anyone care to claim UVA????? PM me if you like, it's like one of my top choices!!! And Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm very exclamatory right now..... Sorry for the double post, I'm freaked the &$@& out right now

Yeah, my understanding has always been that most schools use a combined GRE score as a criteria for awarding fellowships, allowing an applicant with a lopsided strength in verbal to make up for serious deficiencies in quant (like myself). Maybe OSU is different? I hope so. Either way, we are driving ourselves nuts! Oh, and condolences on Buffalo....

Hey, congrats to whoever got in at Illinois-UC!!!

I'm doing the same thing... Right now it's Merry Wiesner's Early Modern Europe: 1450-1789 and then Middlekauff's The Glorious Cause and then Greenberg's Honor and Slavery:Lies, Duels, Noses, Masks, Dressing as a Woman, Gifts, Strangers, Humanitarianism, Death, Slave Rebellions, The Proslavery Argument, Baseball, Hunting, and Gambling in the Old South I'm looking forward to that one.

is in a similar vein - although way more dramatic. And I do not advocate any of his extreme remedies.
