To help pass the time: What seminar do you dream about taking your first semester at your new program? It doesn't have to really exist and obviously most of us have absolutely no clue where we are going, but that should just give us the freedom to make it all the more fun. For me, I think 20th Century African-American Intellectual History would be amazing..... We can even construct fantasy-syllabi as well!!

So I just got an email from another one of my mid-tier programs and the "grad committee is interested in my application" but they still don't have my transcript. Strange things have been afoot at my registrar's office and I'm getting one sent now (via FedEx). But I would imagine this a good sign!!

Hey Laura, I'm in the same situation. What I actually did was looked up the University guidelines for that specific fellowship and it said right there that they can only nominate a student for the fellowship if they are planning to recommend the student for admission, and that the outcome of the fellowship nomination can't affect whether or not the student is ultimately admitted. So, at least in my case, I think/hope/pray that I'm in!! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
