  1. Attempting to fix my mom's ipad, wish me luck, lol.

  2. I'm applying to a few Human Development/Family Studies programs(UD and a few schools in PA), I hope we all get interviews soon!
  3. I did hear about Penn State HDFS program and someone already getting accepted. I actually didn't apply to that program though but will apply to one of their education programs. I'm applying to University of Delaware's HDFS. I'm sure your interview went well! Stay positive!
  4. My potential POI for one program actually emailed me back and told me what I want to study for said program(the interviews for this program haven't been sent out yet). My other programs aren't due until Feb/March. Thanks for the feedback
  5. Have you tried trading shifts with other coworkers? I know in my work environment we can only do sick days if we're really sick or it's an emergency. If you can find someone to take your shift for those weekend interviews, I would do it ASAP. Otherwise, if you can get coverage for two of the interviews and not the third one, if there is no other option/last resort I would call out if you can't get coverage. Your supervisor should be understanding seeing this is your future we're talking about and you are not calling these weekends off for shits and giggles. Good luck
  6. Hey guys, Would it be advantageous to contact potential POIs during the admission process or could it actually count against you? For one of my programs, I actually contacted one of the POIs in early September and we ended up meeting to talk about his research and the program(and introduced me to two of his graduate students). Would it be a bad idea to email other POIs and ask about their research? I don't want to come off as desperate or worse, lol.
  7. Listening to Spotify with glasses and dark lip stick, happy holidays!

  8. I applied to University of Delaware, where the neuroscience and psychology programs are fused together. They host four programs(clinical psych, behavioral neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and social psych) and so far in the results section they have given interviews for clinical psych and neuroscience, both on 1/29 or 2/1 but I haven't heard anything for cognitive psych(which I applied for). Ugh, I'm getting nervous
  9. hey @asurachm, I am applying to University of Delaware, the MA and Phd program(because I'm indecisive). You?
  10. Mine isn't due until Feb 1st, so I can relax for a moment lol
  11. Hey guys, It's the night before my GREs and I'm finishing up studying with a prep cd exam and the 5lb manhatten book of practice problems. I haven't been studying for a full two months but I feel if I just breathe, think, and stay in a good mindset/stay confident I can do well. How did you guys feel the night before the gre and did you review as much as I did before taking it? I always hear that the GRE is designed to see how well you can take it and not necessarily about intelligence. Good vibes are appreciated!
  12. I'm applying to lots of MA programs with less than a 3.0, but I have alot of research and volunteer experience, as well as work experience( I'm currently a mobile technician for Apple). If you don't give up and stay confident, you'll get in. Have faith in yourself!
  13. Same with mine but I'm really stuck between emotion/cognitive development in children and cognitive development/aging
  14. That's awesome, neuroimaging is always fascinating! I hope we all get into our programs! :)
  15. Hey Everyone, Although I am also applying to clinical psych and MA programs, I'm really set on entering a phd cog program. Just wondering if there are any others like me? Also, how did everyone narrow down their interests when writing the personal statement essays?
  16. I would only take if your program strongly recommends it(my one MS program wants but not alot of my phd programs don't) otherwise I wouldn't take it. I have to take it and the general gre, my wallet is crying right now.
  17. I'm in the same boat as you, taking the psych subject October 24th. I have a Kaplan book, getting a intro psych book, and I'm also using an app called GRE psychology by brainscape I downloaded from the app store on my iphone. It presents flashcards on the history of psych and it's subjects(Learning, memory, thinking, sensation/perception, Neuroscience, Research/Methods, Social Psych, Language, Personality, Developmental Psych, Psychopathology(Clinical/Abnormal Psych), and Ethology), you have to unlock levels(history, learning, and memory are the first 3 levels that are unlocked) but it's like a psych intro book on the go. It was free and I love it. I hope both of us do well and get into our programs
  18. Awesome because my testing center dates for October are 23, 27, and 30 which is fine since it'll give me 3 months and some days to study even harder The two phd programs I want to apply to(the rest are MAs or Ms) the deadline is December 15. The minimum admission for the phd programs is gre 310 total, a 3.5 gpa, or "some combination of equal merit" but the clinical has all these statistics : http://www.psych.udel.edu/graduate/detail/student_admissions_outcomes_and_other_data/ I really want to do well but I'll never give up. Do you think I have some semblance of a chance?
  19. Khan Academy actually makes math fun, where was this when I was growing up? lol

I know, right?! I would be a math genius if I had some of the professors you can find on the internet.

  20. thanks for your advice, you have become one of the most helpful individuals on this forum, I really appreciate you! I plan to take the General GRE in October(hopefully early and worst case scenario in the middle of the month). I know scores will be mailed out 6 weeks after you test and since one of my Phd programs has a Dec 1st deadline, I'm a bit worried it won't make it there on time(even though the application allows you to put in your scores).
  21. You are incredible, thanks so much!
  22. Hey guys, One of the schools I'm applying to with an MS in Psychology(Drexel University) recommends the Subject test(but the GRE(my last scores were in the 140s , I'm embarrassed to say but I'm not giving up and I'm going to study like hell, is required). How long did you guys study for this exam and when did you take it? My program's deadline(along with a few others) is Dec 1st. I am also taking the GRE as well but it's quite daunting and a little intimidating to study both at the same time. I know the general consensus is picking up an intro to psych book. In addition, I have the Kaplan Psych subject book as well just in case. Any advice would be amazing, young doves
  23. I really want to do Cognitive Neuroscience but applying to Clinical, School psych, and mental health Counseling. I really want to have a specialization with disorders in children
  24. thanks for your honesty, I appreciate it.
  25. I will do anything to get a better score on the verbal section, lol. Even studying a dead language. I will give equal attention to my SOP, my gre scores, my LOPs, and everything that goes into my application
