    I did a ThM at Duke last year - It was a great experience for me but of course there are folks there (in the MDiv as well) who are jockeying to be recognized to move on to a good PhD program etc. This can be annoying. I worked a lot with the overlap of medicine and ministry - there is a strong desire to have those sort of conversations at Duke and your education thus far could be a real asset. Ray Barfield, my advisor, is a pedes oncologist and philosopher who works with med students who come over to the div school for their humanities training. It is a wonderful collaboration that is just a few years old. Alan Verhey and Amy Laura Hall (among others) would be interested in this conversation. If you are looking to forget medicine - you can do that at Duke as well. One thing you will get at Duke, I can't speak for other institutions in this matter, is a desire to adhere to some sort of Christian orthodoxy with a very strong emphasis on the role of the church. This does not mean that liberal thoughts are discouraged - it is just more tempered with an emphasis on our position as a Christian community historically.

    Got the offer from Baylor (theology/ethics PhD) - It is not only a great fit for em but literally my only option (my plan B was not even viable). Now I just need to unlearn all the terrible anxious habits I have taught myself in this process.

    Thanks for the encouragement - I was actually called yesterday for a Skype interview - there is a slot open and I am one of two options. Very excited/humbled.

    I had the naive vision that since yesterday was April 15th I would either be put out of my wretched condition by removal from the wait lists I'm on, or by some miracle be accepted into one of the programs. Of course, nothing has happened and I am living in limbo.

    Anyone have an offer from Baylor (in theology and ethics) sitting around collecting dust that you can return to them so that I can get in off the alternate list?

    I noticed some Marquette Theology (systematics/ethics not historical theology) acceptances today. Anyone here want to claim it? Any details?

    Baylor's theology PhD has not made any official rejections/ wait lists etc. according to the department. They have made offers but nothing else as far as I have been informed.

    Anyone accepted into the ThD program at Duke or know someone who is? Any chance of turning it down so I might get in off the waitlist? Even a sliver of hope would be nice.
