  1. Congrats starbelliedsneetch! I haven't heard anything from them yet. Assuming rejection will come soon. I'm not really sure why they let outside people apply when it's mostly an internal process...
  2. ok, so I know I shouldn't be holding my breath for this at all (i'm an outside candidate), but does anyone have any updates on the NYU phd? I got an email yesterday saying decisions would be out in a couple days...
  3. Hey Salvatura--I am inclined to agree with Bats. Having visiting a few programs, I am starting to feel like this happiness quotient is the number one most important factor. Grad school can be a grueling, demoralizing, uphill journey. I think it's impt to surround yourself with people who are committed and passionate and remind you why you are doing this in the first place. On the other hand, it's nice to have spending money. Just do what my father recommended to me long ago. Relax. Ask yourself the question. Whatever comes to your mind first is your answer .
  4. Thanks for your encouragement, Seeking. I am totally thrilled with the acceptances. It is already more than I'd hoped for! In terms of the Brown interview, they asked one question about my general interest in Brown and about 5 other questions directly related to my research proposal. They basically wanted me to flesh out the proposal, and to see how I would respond to potential challenges (ie. how does your research relate to such and such branch of performance theory). The whole process was quick and to the point.
  5. Thanks everyone for your congratulations and support! Here are my developments: Brown: Interviewed on Monday, awaiting results Northwestern: Rejected Berkeley: Accepted UCLA: Accepted Stanford: Interview Scheduled NYU: no word yet Best of luck to everyone!
  6. Hey all, so nice to see more perf studies people on here! Judging from the forum posts, you'd think none of us used this site. Here are my stats: Berkeley: Accepted UCLA: Accepted Brown: scheduled for interview 1/30 Stanford: scheduled for interview in feb i'm guessing the northwestern boat has sailed, since I havent been contacted for an interview yet and it sounds like others have. Does anyone have any insight into the NYU process? Although officially they accept people who dont have MA's from Tisch, all their current students appear to have them. Someone told me it's basically impossible to get into the PhD if you havent got the Tisch MA. Have people heard similar rumors? I don't want to scare anyone. I may have completely wrong information. But if anyone could provide some clarity that would certainly be appreciated. Solidarity and sleeplessness...
