The schools with Dec deadline are usually late ( or does it implies that I am rejected?), I received 2 interview from schools with 15 Jan deadline but haven't heard anything about the school with 15 Dec deadline. On the other hand, I bombed my Northwestern interview today... yay..... Considered come back to binge eating As an international student, I do not have the luxury of having a pet. So sad. I think a cat/dog might help me through this difficult time.

I have a missed phone call from Illinois, where I did my interview 3 weeks ago. I sweat out a lot and call back... A woman voice appear : Here is Amazon.... Agrrrr This application cycle really puts me on roller coaster of emotions.

Everyone in this process feels the same like you, especially when we haven't got any acceptance yet. Just try to find something to distract you from waiting, such as learning a new instrument? Good luck to us with the application process. If I did not focus on doing sth, I would be binge eating ahhhhhh

Good luck with the application, @raaawr. I think that we will have more news within this week. And today is just Monday ... 4 more days til the end of the week, and we have been rolling on nearly 1/3 of Februgatory . Time flies both so fast and slow

Thank you guys for your nice word! I am considering staying through the night to prepare for the interview T___T . The fun part is, I never drink coffee and I rarely stay up late, unless for gaming purpose which you do not need any coffee at all. Any suggestion for non caffeinated drink to keep me awake ?

Unbelievable thing happened to me today ! I just finished cleaning my dishes and then came back to check my email. One email showed up (8pm) with title : PhD Admission... I just clicked into it and read the first two lines: We are impressed with your credentials bla bla.... Because I am waiting for a school result which I did my interview almost 3 weeks ago ( and I am also still full from my dinner), I just thought that I got rejected. However, when I calmed my mind and read the email again, I just realized that it was an interview offer from Northwestern... Oh my god .... This school is super, super reach to me; I just applied here because my brother stays in Chicago. In addition, I saw someone's interview posted on result's page nearly one week ago, so that I thought I was never offered interview and got rejected. Interview may happen tomorrow. I feel both nervous and excited as hell..

After you finish your application, there isn't many thing you can do except for waiting. And I am quite sure that they don't reject an application for some small typo like this. You also have to choose the degree you want to apply while filling your application form. So just don't worry too much.

Yes why not? I think you should email the admission committee about this good new! It can only increase your chance of acceptance, not less.

The same to me, I received an email from Iowa Uni to ask for my opinion of their school website... LOL

At first, congratulation on your admission. In my view, I think that it's worth explaining. First, it is your top choice; second, even if they do not accept any changes, you have tried every thing you can do. Just one email and you can have a clear direction of what to do next. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion, fuzzylogician. Actually I apply for PhD in Operation Management ( as my name suggest :D) . The article I need to summarize actually is not a research paper but a case study (MIT Sloan Management review). So I think they put more focus on my writing and analytical skill , not so much on my ability to read scientific literature. Another thing they may pay attention is my viewpoint on the article. Do you think I should read some more paper on internet about the topic in the article, given that subtopic is not in my research interest, so that in case they ask about my viewpoint, I can suggest some?

I just got my second interview email today. In the email, I was told to read an article and then write a summary paper and submit to admission committee 4 days before the interview. This is the first time I have ever heard about this practice. Any idea about the purpose of this? May be they want to use as a writing sample? I don't know whether they will use the article in my interview. Quite confused now.
