  1. I'm still waiting on my scholarship offer! But I probably won't attend. It's such a good school and I really love it here, but after 4 years I think I"m ready for something different.
  2. I know what you mean! But you should hear soon
  3. I got in! You can see my timeline in my signature. Got notified that I was accepted about 1 month after applying and got my scholarship letter about a month after that (they were super delayed in sending it out...they said I should get it a week after I got my acceptance email). You might hear back faster since I'm guessing the holidays slowed things down.
  4. Congrats on Berkeley! Are you looking at programs for history or an MSW? I still haven't heard back from UChicago and have no idea what that could mean.
  5. That's exactly how I felt with Pitt! Haha. But they should be sending out scholarship awards in like 2 weeks. So that has the potential to be more exciting.
  6. Thanks! WUSTL is my #1, but I think I'd really enjoy any of the schools
  7. Aww sorry to hear that. But I'm glad you're feeling ok with it. Originally it was one of my first choices but more and more I'm feeling like it isn't quite right for me.
  8. Hmm that makes me feel a little concerned. I haven't heard back from Chicago and I applied around 11/28. They said they'd be notifying this week so we'll see but I don't know that it bodes well for me, especially with scholarship consideration.
  9. Is anyone still waiting on Michigan or Chicago? I still haven't heard back.
  10. The thing is, graduate schools don't really offer need-based aid--they offer you need-based loans and some federal work study based on the FAFSA. But essentially, my understanding is the merit scholarship is the only grant you're going to get. Most everyone going to grad school is poor
  11. I did submit my FAFSA last week, probably around the same time you did. I don't really think they do non-merit scholarship, with the exception of some work study.
  12. That's the reason I didn't even apply to Columbia! I knew their scholarships were terrible. I'm paying for my MSW completely by myself after just having paid for 4 years of undergrad, so trying to take out as little loans as possible!
  13. Accepted to WUSTL! Yay! I got 20K in scholarship which is definitely not as much as I was hoping for. This is my first choice so I might see if I can get more. But I'm excited to be in
  14. I totally expected to hear by now. I guess we'll see if we all hear Monday. If not, I'm sure they'll have tons of phone calls at the office! They're my first choice right now and it's killing me not knowing.
  15. I got an email from BC today! Got accepted Will get my official letter and scholarship offer in the mail soon (hopefully very soon since I live on Boston College's campus haha). But they want a decision within 3 weeks of getting the letter. That is probably not going to happen so hopefully they give me an extension.
  16. Yes totally wall of impatience! The holidays distracted me and now I'm just ready to hear back from everyone like right now.
  17. Thanks for letting me know! I applied right before 12/1 so hopefully I hear soon At least Chicago lets you know scholarship right away. Did they give you a good scholarship?
  18. Congrats about UMich! When did you apply? I'm still waiting to hear. That's frustrating that they don't send out the scholarship info with acceptance. For UChicago, when did you hear and how? Did they just notify you by email? Also waiting on them.
  19. The 30K from case does include funds for the paid field stipend, yes. I'm a really strong applicant academically but don't have as much experience so that definitely hurts me I would guess. I'd be curious to hear what you get for scholarship once you hear. And good luck on the Cannon!
  20. I talked with the Dean of Admissions at Pitt at a grad fair. He was super nice. He said yes, you do really get guaranteed admission and a merit scholarship. He was very honest and said Pitt doesn't have the same resources as Michigan or WashU, so it would definitely be a partial scholarship in most cases. He did say they have opportunities for grants the second year--for example, a mental health grant that gives you 10K cash. And that grant is actually not as competitive as one might think. They are sending out scholarship offers mid February. I got 30K over the 2 years at Case. Which is ok, but still leaves about 56K out of pocket, plus living expenses. I don't know if what I got is average or above/below.
  21. Hey! When/how did you hear from BC? I'm actually a student here now and will start an MSW program in the Fall. I applied to BC and haven't heard back yet! I also want to study trauma (domestic violence & sex trafficking)! If you have any questions about the school specifically, I'd be happy to answer them
  22. I have a question about MSW placements--I know this is going to vary hugely by placement and program, but would love to hear from people currently in an MSW or who have completed a program. How flexible are placement days/hours? I am a wedding photographer (this is how I finance my life & education). I need to book weddings during the school year--I can't just not work for 4 semesters. But I would have to travel for all the weddings, meaning I might miss some Fridays. If I have my placement on Friday, how flexible do you think it would be for me to make up those hours on a different day?
  23. How did you hear from UChicago? I applied to them early and am still waiting. I'm guessing you could ask UChicago to extend your deadline--I think most schools are pretty understanding. I'm actually finishing up my undergrad at BC right now and also applied to the program here. I didn't receive any indication from them on when I might hear back...might pop into the office tomorrow and ask them.
  24. Thanks for letting me know! I'm glad everything was sorted out with your application. We applied to a lot of the same schools! Hoping WashU notifies me like now I guess it really should be any day
