  1. For winter gear, I HIGHLY recommend LL Bean! They are the best company and you cannot beat their products. Their boots, jackets, etc. are a little expensive, but they will actually last you a lifetime. I've been using the same LL bean backpack for 11 years. Not kidding. And I know this sounds like an ad, I'm just really passionate about this company haha! And I've lived in Boston for a lot of my life
  2. I am officially attending Case Western in the fall I am so excited to finally be at the end of this crazy process!
  3. I think Ivy league schools carry a lot more weight in undergrad and certain specific grad degrees (maybe med school) but not for social work. I think people in the social work field get that, for the most part, and aren't going to penalize you for not having a Columbia degree. Especially since so many of the Ivy MSW programs have huge acceptance rates. I got in to the #1 ranked MSW programs, and decided to go to Case Western (which yes, is still highly ranked) because I got a full ride. Loans are just not worth it!
  4. I've heard great things about Ann Arbor...college towns aren't bad! It's only 2 years, which goes by so fast, and if it's the right program for you, with money, even better! That's actually a great question about the field stipend. That would be even more amazing for sure! I'll have to ask. Fingers crossed everything goes well with my visit and I really like the university and city.
  5. The cost of living is for sure on point! And I'm sure I'll like the city enough, at least for 2 years! It's pretty close to Ann Arbor, right? You sticking with your decision?
  6. Thank you so much! I really am still so surprised! Hoping to visit Cleveland soon!
  7. I was notified that I received the Leadership Fellows scholarship! That is a full ride so it looks like I'm heading to Case Western! I am just in shock.
  8. I contacted the admissions person and just sent an email. She said that they typically don't review applications for more money, but decided to for mine! So I think I really lucked out.
  9. I've declined Chicago, Michigan, and Boston College. I should hear back from the Case fellowship this week or next at the latest. I am not holding my breath. Unless I get that, I should be headed to WashU! They actually gave me a little bit more money which will help out.
  10. Congratulations on deciding!!! That's so awesome! I've only heard good things about the program and I'm sure it will be awesome for you!!
  11. I just turned down my place at Univeristy of Michigan. I hope that means one of you gets my spot (and my money!). Good luck to everyone <3
  12. Finally got my scholarship offer today! Pretty on-par with the rest of my offers. Not enough to make me go there.
  13. I still haven't gotten my scholarship offer yet. Anyone else waiting? Does this mean I'm not getting an offer?
  14. I don't know where but I did found the employment for WUSTL. It's good...mental health concentration had an average $38k starting salary. But I'm guessing it's comprable to Case
  15. That's about what I received from them in scholarship, too. I was accepted 12/29 and got my scholarship info 1/21. But it sounded like they were interviewing everyone for the fellowship last week and this coming week...so idk if they've already notified everyone they're considering I could be totally wrong. I am quite sure I won't get it. But I won't find out for a couple weeks.
  16. They said I would get my scholarship offer in the mail a week after I got the email saying I had been accepted. It took more like 1 month.
  17. I am all over the place...I have ruled out Boston College only because I am an undergrad at BC right now and just feel like I need a change. But BC is amazing--I'm super sad to leave. I've only heard good things about the BC program and BC itself is awesome! I have also ruled out Chicago because it's just so expensive--tuition, fees, and cost of living. Right now WashU is a top choice. Pittsburgh is still on my radar. And I have a chance at getting a full ride to Case Western. If I get that, I will probably go to Case. I am still waiting on scholarship info from UMichigan, but I don't think I'll go.
  18. I feel ya, I have an interview tomorrow for a potential full ride at Case Western and I'm feeling nervous about it. Have no idea what to expect.
  19. You'll be great! I didn't apply for either of the positions, but they look like reasonably straight forward office/student services jobs. I doubt they'll ask you anything too crazy! Also just saw that you're in Murfreesboro. My family lives in Spring Hill!
  20. I didn't ask for an extension because I decided not to go. Actually I haven't officially notified them yet so I need to do that!
  21. Thank you! That's so encouraging I won't find out for a month or so...so that will be a fun wait.
  22. Yes the Leadership Fellowship! I don't have a ton of leadership experience...but I think my application probably showed initiative and potential? I taught ESOL classes for a couple years, volunteered at a domestic violence place while studying abroad in Ecuador, I also conducted my own research project in Ecuador, and am currently writing a very social-work type thesis. I am a student at Boston College, which is really respected in the social world field. My GPA is 3.95 and I've taken a lot of graduate classes in psychology and theology/pastoral ministry. I'm surprised they picked me but it would be such a dream to get it!
  23. So I got an email inviting me to interview for a fellowship that would be a full-ride scholarship. I had already written off Case so this really shocked me. If I happen to get it, a full ride is just going to be impossible to turn down.
  24. I got 10K a year. I was almost hoping for less, ha, because it would make it easier to turn down. This is by far the cheapest program for me, but I don't think it's enough to persuade me. We'll see.
  25. Thanks so much Lewi! It's encouraging to know that there are some potential options for flexibility, and I'll be sure to be upfront with everything from the start.
