Agreed. Plus, a quick look back at previous years seems to reveal that Yale rejections come all (or nearly all) at once, sometime in the beginning of March. But then again, who really knows.

Had you received an official rejection from Maryland, or were you in some sort of limbo?

It seems to me that this is the most important bit to realize. The whole thing really is a crapshoot. All anyone can do is play their best cards and hope for a little luck. If you lose that hand, ante up, double down, and yank that lever for one more spin (or two or three). Any other gambling metaphors I can mix in here? Ahhhhh you all get it.

A "hidden" waitlist you say? I have never heard of such a thing. I would have assumed that once a program goes through their waitlist, they give us the ol' porky pig. Interesting.

As a 'desperate', 'anxious', and 'bored' applicant myself, I love the idea of this thread. Unfortunately, I have no such story to share---just a dream. It involves a poor soul named Kingoftherats, who against all odds gets admitted to just one of the seventeen programs to which they applied. Just one. Any one. Please? In all seriousness, hope to hear some more! Maybe with even juicier details if possible.

Agreed! Just need that first acceptance and all will be okay (or at least it will feel that way for a time). I hate the thought of waiting another year and doing this all over again, but am almost counting on it as an inevitability. Would love to be proven wrong, and hopefully sooner rather than later!

Hi out there, I recently finished submitting the last of my doctoral applications and am now allowing myself to spend some time on this site. Not looking forward to all the waiting ahead, but glad to have tgc to obsess over. Hoping that everyone's hard work pays off!
