Thanks for the heads up. I really don't understand why they're sending us letters like that. I had actually already gotten an email confirmation from UMM saying the same thing. This just adds to my anxiety.

It would require a move, but I totally just saw an article about Legoland Florida needing master builders. That sounds pretty awesome to me.

Well, just had a mini heart-attack thanks to UT Austin. Got home and found a letter in the mail from their admissions office. I assumed immediate rejection, only to open it and find that it was just them saying my application was received with a link to check on the status of my application. And the site still says my application is in review. @hypoart I expect you should be on the lookout for that letter too.

As am I. I work with duel monitors, so it's really easy to have this forum and my email pulled up on one side and my work on the other.

Lol, yes, I do have a job. But it's not all that distracting surprisingly. It's really easy to work on things and let my mind wander back to this.

I think I'm starting to check this site just as much as I check my email just to see if anyone has posted any results. I feel like this is taking forever. And I'm super envious of those of you still in undergrad because at least you have school as a distraction. Nothing seems to be able to take hold of my attention for very long right now.

I feel like my answer is so different from everyone else's. As an artist, it's really difficult to find a way to financially support that passion, so I set out to find a way to make enough to live comfortably while still being able to spend time creating work. And I've determined the best route for me to take is to become a professor. Professors in the arts are required to be actively making new work. And I am completely happy with the wages. Also, I thoroughly enjoy being in an academic environment, and I really look forward to helping guide young artists to perfect their craft and develop their unique personal styles. So it seems like a perfect fit.

I live in Louisiana, and it's Mardi Gras season...so thankful for king cake right now.

Any late Dec/early Jan applicants? Waiting is so difficult!

Jeez, that sucks. I guess it probably helps that for studio art, it takes less time to look at pieces of art and read short statements than to read the long pieces of writing that I assume other subjects require. -
Thanks! And you are correct! She was definitely one of my biggest influences while I was working on thesis, along with the short story The Yellow Wallpaper. Is any of your work available to see?

Three of my schools were due last week and two are due this Friday. Thankfully, most of them said I should start hearing about interviews after two weeks from the deadlines, but the anticipation is already killing me! Every time my phone rings or I get an email, I have a mini heart attack, and it's just killing me not knowing where I'm going to end up. -
Anyone else going crazy with anticipation? The app deadline for two of my schools isn't even until this Friday, and it's barely been a week since the others, but I am so ready to start hearing back from people. Any time my phone rings or I see I have an email, I have a mini heart attack.

Adobe InDesign is also really great for this. You choose the number of pages you want, then you can add in your images and text, and just export as a PDF

Thank you!!

Sooo, question... When we do hear back from schools about having interviews, is it more common for them to call you to set that up or to just receive an email about it?

The best I could think of would be a Fulbright program. It's not an MFA program, but it would look really good on your resume. However I think some of them can become part of a Masters program, you may have to do some research to figure that out. I'm not sure what sort of work you do, but if it's in the photo/video/digital realm, this one is a new one specifically for that: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/about/types-of-grants/fulbright-national-geographic-digital-storytelling-fellowship

I only uploaded the work. My schools either asked me to provide an artist statement, or if they didn't mention one, I included a bit about my work in the statement of intent. My work is photo, but I don't really think that makes a difference. Also, despite being nervous and anxious, is anyone else really excited to start hearing back from schools? Or am I just really lame and entirely too optimistic since this is my first time applying?

Thank you! I assumed it was something like that, so I have been choosing to waive. But thanks for clarifying for me!

Hi everyone, I'm working on finishing up applications as most of mine are due at the beginning and middle of January. I've noticed on a lot of them I'm asked whether or not I want to waive my rights to view my letters of recommendation. Does anyone know the reason for this?
