  1. I made myself a binder with a tab for each school I applied for, with a standard checklist for each one. So I would check off when each school received my GRE scores, transcripts, each of my three rec letters, my payment, etc. It may be helpful for you to make a list of everything you need to do, such as securing rec letter writers, writing the personal statement, and so on. other than that, my only advice is just to double/triple check each school's requirements and write them down. Personal statement requirements vary, supporting documents vary, so you just want to make sure you submit everything correctly for each school. Good luck!
  2. Congrats to you too! I'm from Maryland originally so it won't be too big of a move, but I currently live in Pittsburgh so I'll have to rent a UHaul for the 4 hour trip. I wasn't expecting to get into UMD so I'm pleasantly surprised and happy that I won't have to move too far. Good luck in your move
  3. Me too! I'm going to Maryland!
  4. I received an email from UT-Knoxville today stating they send out some decisions but will continue to make more in the coming month for those waitlisted. I asked them to take my name off their list so someone else on the waitlist could be considered.
  5. Hi there - I interviewed at both places and haven't heard anything either. Perhaps we met? Keep your head up, it'll all work out! (Easier said than done, I know)
  6. There aren't really respected rankings for school psych. There are some out there but unlike other areas of study, school psych rankings aren't similar across the board and can be based on various factors. I've never found a list of rankings by a respected source that I felt really captured the essence of programs. In my opinion, top school psych programs are APA accredited and NASP approved. This ensures the highest standards are being met. You can find these lists of schools via Google search but I was never able to find a list that gave schools that were accredited/approved by BOTH. I had to cross reference. Maybe other people on the forum have had better luck? Other than that, research fit/opportunities to publish and present and clinical, applied experiences make programs "better" and prepare you better for jobs. APA internships can also make finding a job easier depending on the route you go, so you may want to look at schools' APPIC match rates Of course, this is just my opinion, but I hope it helps!
  7. Anyone heard from Tennessee School Psych post-interview? I interviewed 1/29 and haven't heard anything yet.
  8. Are either of the Syracuse posters on this forum? If so, did you interview there? Thanks!
  9. To the two people who posted results from Syracuse school psych - did you interview? Thanks!
  10. I declined School Psych PhD programs at Wisconsin Madison and Indiana.
  11. Congrats to everyone on your acceptances! This may be a long shot but if anyone interviewed at UW Milwaukee for the PhD program and wouldn't mind sharing their experience there I would really like to hear about the in-person interview! Please message me if you went. I saw one person was already accepted there on the results page. Thanks so much! Good luck everyone
  12. It was separated into two sessions, morning and afternoon. There were 15 people total, for a cohort of 3-5. We began with an overview of the program, then round-table discussions with each faculty about their research, and then individual interviews with faculty and students. No questions really surprised me, they were really trying to assess fit, so a lot of "why school psych?" "why maryland?" etc.
  13. Hi! That's a really good question. I've interviewed at four programs so far and your description is pretty spot on. There is usually one male, perhaps one or two minority students, and an even mix of current undergrads and people who are either currently in grad school or out in the work force. The field is definitely homogenous, unfortunately. I will say that many of the people I know in this field and have met at interviews have commented on this problem of lack of diversity, and it's something programs are working to combat. The children we work with are so diverse - our field needs to look the same way! I'm hoping more males and more minority students will continue to join the field in the coming years, and I think a small part of the problem is just how few people know about school psych and understand it. To be honest, there hasn't been a program so far that struck me as particularly diverse. Urban campuses tend to attract a more diverse applicant pool, but not by much.
  14. Same here
  15. It really varies from school to school. One school told me one to two weeks and another's website says you hear back in March (a month after the interview). I guess it all depends on the school's strategy for choosing students, such as if they already have a rank in mind before Interview Day and so on. Just curious...I had an interview last week that was predominantly group interviews. I was given lots of time to ask questions and hear about the program, but I wasn't asked that many questions about myself, my goals, my research, etc. Has anyone else had this experience? How will they select a cohort if they didn't really "interview" us (formally, at least)? Everyone was very professional, polite, and obviously well-qualified. Any thoughts? Thanks!
