  1. Got some information that Pitt is making final decisions this Friday. Expect acceptances to come out soon after.
  2. No real reason why we don't do predictions for certain schools. Usually, we'll do them on request and just continue to make the list longer.
  3. Okay....Same......
  4. No worries at all. It helps me stay busy while still obsessing. WashU typically releases on a Friday (three of four), but has released on a Wednesday. I would guess MW or F next week or M or W the week after. They're slightly unpredictable. Past has been 2/15/12, 2/8/13, 2/7/14, and 1/23/15. It can be hard to tell with such little data whether or not something is an outlier, a trend change, or an indication of irregularity. The next prediction would be an average of the first three, which is next Wednesday 2/10.
  5. I'm not entirely sure if Berkeley is done or that there is a reason why almost all are international. It very well could be that they had a list, funding was discussed first for international, and the US applicants will hear next week. Not to keep your hopes up too high, because it seems like an appropriate number of people have been accepted already and posted on grad cafe, but one of the two patterns for Berkeley is to see them send out a few more wait lists and acceptances the second week of February. (Again, thinking this is true because of funding and personalized emails.) However, it is still possible that they are nearly is not completely done sending out emails. Give up hope at the end of next week. For those of you who didn't apply to the logic group but still are logic, phil science, phil language, phil math, formal epistemology,...etc...oriented, there have been people in the past who have been considered and even accepted into the logic group after being rejected from the phil pool. This also happens in the other direction; that is, being accepted into phil or math phd after being rejected from the logic group. Similarly, I would suppose, for classics/ancient phil. Wishing you all success next week.
  6. Another Berkeley acceptance and wait list.
  7. You'll probably have to wait, but I'm not sure. I figure the reason is because they haven't awarded fellowships yet and that (I'm guessing) is typically done on a weekday. You might even expect it a day after. So, around Tuesday (or Wednesday your time?). They almost always respond on a Friday (4-year data) but last year did a Tuesday (only day other than Fri in last 4 years). Best of luck.
  8. You realize you're tired when you don't just look down at the signature...... Thanks. Yeah. I received it. You were the first one too. So thank you
  9. Which program was it for?
  10. Yeah actually. The average of the past four years is 5.75 and they've released on one friday and two saturdays of the four. So, I rounded to Feb 6 instead of Feb 5.
  11. They have to say stuff like "notified by the beginning of March" or else they would get harassed like crazy. I agree with @philosopher_queen. Some decision should be made by the beginning of March, which is true. You will get an email this month or early next month about the decision, whether thats a rejection, acceptance, or wait list. However, acceptances most typically come out the first two weeks. Also, not just campus-wide fellowships based on GRE scores but also based on CA residency. I've received funding emails from UCSB accepted candidates who definitely got funding from a "CA-residency" type deal. And that's my way into talking about funding emails. If any of you are feeling bored and happy and want to brag some more, send the blog funding emails and I'll try to get that up and running next week. They are anonymous. When I receive them in the inbox, I do not see anything other than an email from my blog.
  12. Restraining to once an hour or once every two hours works really well. That's what I do to stay on top of the blog, unless I'm working or with my dog. I also have notifications on my phone for my email...which in a way sort of cuts back on how much I look for my personal responses.
  13. No idea. I would have guessed something like what you've said, personalization.
  14. Every year, they've send acceptances and wait lists over the course of a full week or even two. I don't know much about international students, but what you said sounds legitimate.
  15. I would say, as the predictor, "yes" iff Berkeley doesn't come out in the next 5 days or so. But also, I got an email a while ago from an applicant telling that they heard from UCSB that they're doing things differently and said they would come out early January...(I got this information after posting the predictions and didn't know if they meant February). But, to be honest as you might already know, our predictions are wildly unreliable since we don't take it super seriously and it depends on so many factors not explicitly discussed.
  16. Me too. I'm still feeling like Berkeley will have to be today, tomorrow, or Saturday.
  17. Yeah. Seems early for Fordham, usually sticking around the 20's of February or even early March. But there has been one time in the past that they released a little earlier, but not this early. Last year, Penn State did some interviews the first week of feb and released about two weeks after. I have really limited data for Cincinnati. So I have so idea what'll happen with them.
  18. Congratulations again. You're doing very well

  20. Great. Also, note that UNC has in the past four years always come out on a Mon, Weds, or Fri. Second guesses would be Fri-Feb 12th or Mon- Feb 15th.
  21. Somewhat. Earliest in last 4 years was Jan 27 and latest Feb 10. I would say this weekend to mid week next week.
  22. Maybe in years to come we can come up with a better system for the predictions. It may be better to have indications of confidence, maybe more of a range in the date, and an easy way to show the trends for each school's releases (e.g. everyone knows their decision on the same day, rejections first, acceptances in waves, acceptances and wait lists on the same day...etc.). But then again, it is pretty fun to see which days we nailed and which days we didn't so much nail.
  23. UNC--a little inconsistent. Sometimes Jan 20...sometimes Feb 16. Don't really know if it'll come out this week, next week, or even early the week after Arizona---pretty consistently the end of the first week of Feb or the beginning of the second week. We all know the drill with Berkeley--should be this week...probably tomorrow...but who knows. (Always very consistent though.) Notre Dame--pretty consistently in the tens in Feb. But may be Feb 10 or may be Feb 18
  24. Gotcha. You're good. At least, you got some sort of contact. (Jealous.)
  25. They should still have unofficial transcripts and I'm sure they're just thinking that no one really lies about grades since they double check after admittance. Did they say that they don't need them as of now unless you're admitted or did they say that they don't need them at all? If it sounded more like the former, I wouldn't worry any more than normal. If the latter, I hate to say it too that it sounds bad since they'll need them eventually.
