  1. I've also been checking my email constantly about Berkeley. Still confident it'll come out this week. Hopefully that doesn't make everyone too crazy. (However, I did hear from an reliable source that they heard from an unreliable source that Berkeley isn't releasing for another two-ish weeks. This person is friend's with a prof in the Anthro department who is friends with a Phil prof. (Both Berkeley profs.) The Phil prof may or may not be associated with admissions and the whole conversation sounded sketchy.) I would say it's really unlikely that someone was accepted. People usually can't wait to tell everyone they got into a top-twenty (gourmet) program.
  2. Yeah. Interviews and for HPS instead of straight philosophy.
  3. Way too quiet. (and) Thanks
  4. Berkeley is one of the ones that is very consistent. They seem to release midweek (Tuesday and Thursday) and in the past four years it has always been the first week of February. 2012-Feb 2 Thurs; 2013-Feb 5 Tues; 2014-Feb 2 Sun; 2015-Feb 3 Tues I rounded down the average to Tuesday because Tuesday has shown up more than once. (Who knows if this is a legitimate reason to round down an average. I figure that maybe (really sketchy justification) they come to some decisions the week before and they run those by one last time after the weekend on a Monday, decide how to release, or they need some sort of "okay" from financial offices or what have you.) Since it has been a tradition from both Ian and Sid in the past to consider days of the week, I have as well. In any case, I'm very confident we will hear from them this week. (Just so everyone knows, some of the predictions are based off of 1 data point; so, you can expect some to be quite off.) Feel free to let me know if, when some deadlines are approaching, you would like me to tell you how confident I am about the predictions.
  5. Looks like they don't do rounds based off of limited data from gradcafe. I would wait a couple of days. They seem to be doing things a little differently this year though, coming out a lot earlier than predicted. I would guess you'll hear back today or tomorrow.

  7. I agree. Most likely, they aren't done. That or the Duke acceptance was fake. I haven't received any information about it other than that there was a post on the results page, but it's also really rare that people will post fakes and they're usually really obvious (a month earlier than usual) and for programs ranked at top 5 on philgourmet.
  8. Yeah. And my prediction (which came before this information) is for Feb 29
  9. Yeah. I'll probably still make a blog post without someone claiming the acceptance because it really is pretty on schedule. (But the reason I haven't yet is because I don't have a lot of evidence to know that the post was legitimate.) I totally agree dgswaim about this. There would be more than just one person if they all came out today.
  10. Yeah. So, Cincinnati was a really random prediction on my end. I only had two reliable data points. We'll see what happens with that. So, a Duke acceptance is posted. Anyone willing to claim it and give a tad bit of detail?
  11. That just makes so much sense. lazy philosophers.
  12. I would be interesting to see what times schools tended to release. If there was a trend, that could really alleviate some of the constantly-checking-phone-and-email stress. Just so it's out there, I am confident that Duke will come out this week since they are very consistent with release dates. Of course, I did make the prediction for today, but tomorrow is very likely as well. Wishing you both the best with this one.
  13. Thank you. I appreciate all the updates everyone is giving me.
  14. That sounds very reasonable to me and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of schools do it that way.
  15. @Swann @nonexistententity Just based off of the last few years, it looks like Northwestern sends out acceptances and wait lists over the course of a week or so (especially notable in 2013). They also seem to have sent out rejections around the same time (2015, 2013) or a week after acceptances (2014) and there have been a few notifications of a wait list or two a few weeks after the first acceptances came out. I wouldn't worry just yet because the first claimed acceptance came out on Thursday and the first gradcafe wait list came out Friday. In the past four years, Northwestern hasn't released much if anything on a weekend; so, I would say it's safe to assume you'll hear back really soon with something and I wouldn't assume it's a rejection, though it is more likely. Best of luck, Jac
  16. Awesome! Congratulations. Who sent the email?
  17. Okay, great. I'll put that up on the blog too. My original prediction is probably still wrong at January 29th.
  18. Could you tell me a little more? Do you know if there were phone calls or emails?
  19. Congratulations. That's awesome.
  20. @7-11 Coffee I was wondering about your rejections to MIT, Stanford, and Caltech. Are those for Philosophy PhD programs? I'm interested in hearing about FSU also. The data isn't so great, but it seems pretty early for them.
  21. That's so exciting! I'm guessing the offer is legitimate since my prediction is only 5 days off. If people want to start bragging about their acceptances here or in a private message, then I can start confirming offers and posting them up on the blog. Congratulations to those accepted.
  22. You're right. I remember seeing that change too. I hope you're right that they'll release earlier.
  23. Good to know. It'll be interesting to see if that makes a difference and hopefully help for next year. It's possible that they still look at the applications at the same time each year even if there is a change in the submission deadlines. (Maybe the graduate school has an earlier deadline imposed on the department.)
  24. Not at all. Thanks for the heads up though. (I really do appreciate the input since I'm not spending too much time with each school and figuring out if there were any interesting changes in submission dates, graduate admissions chair, or internal admissions calendar.) Do you know if the 2015 submission date was pretty consistent with even earlier submission dates? I might put up a note so other readers can look out for that if it does come in a few weeks later than predicted.
  25. Great. Thanks for that. I'm pretty sure it was one of the ones that I had one data point for. I'll blank it out and put a note on the blog.
