  1. Yeah. That's what I was told. It might be wrong, but the message seems honest to me. Might have to get my sock mask.
  2. Not that I was the one who received the wait list, but I can't imagine that they would post a wait list with just that email. Hopefully they respond though.
  3. Also, just received information about Riverside. They just began reading applications last week and while I'm not sure how long the process takes I don't think it'll be even by next week.
  4. 1. Fake email: both Nat and I are under fake names and emails. 2. Totally agree that it would be excellent to send to Leiter this question since most of the point is to alleviate the stress on both ends, including on the department's end. I'm sure some professor's don't care, but even from that post on the survey a couple of weeks ago some profs definitely feel harassed.
  5. 1. Trench coats, yes. 2. I'll see what Nat can do about Riverside. Probably not much since they are very unpredictable ranging from late January to late February and a bit in between in the past four years. I pretty much randomly selected a date. Nat and I are still trying to figure out good ground rules for emailing/calling and I'm unsure what the consensus is on asking before anything has been sent out when they're still within their release date ranges. (Hopefully that all makes sense.) 3. Notre Dame--I would say relatively consistent and should come out today or any day next week. Last year, they came out on the 18th. Earlier years, they came out on the 13th twice and 1st one.
  6. I've got an anonymous source telling me that UNC will most likely not release today or even Monday because of how much work they still have for the weekend. Most likely, the source tells me, they will be done next Friday with a possibility of it being next Wednesday.
  7. This is definitely important to me. Hopefully, Nat will be able to take over this discussion later today.
  8. Good point. That's a much better plan. Any other suggestions?
  9. I'm going to chat with Nat ('Nat' is the name of the caller) tomorrow and we'll discuss calling Indiana. We're trying also to set some ground rules so as to not overcall departments and end up causing more trouble. Unfortunately, it may not work and we have worries that we will just get a generic, uninformative response.
  10. I definitely would. They really do spread out. Don't want to be too much of a downer, but I'm guessing if you don't hear back from Berkeley by the end of tomorrow it's probably a safe bet you've been rejected.
  11. Also possible that it's legitimate. In the past four years, this is one of the latest they've come out. If you look at the past record for release dates, they sometimes are very spread out for Indiana. Also, slightly possible that it's spam, but very unlikely. If it isn't legitimate, most likely it is your option a.
  12. Oddly enough, they've exclusively started releasing on Fridays for the past for years, according to my data. I would expect the first to come out on a Friday.
  13. Yeah. Those are my worries too. If they stay ambiguous for a while, we'll just call it off. We definitely wouldn't want to call too many times and wouldn't want to end up making more contact than there already is with applicants.
  14. Based on the past, I would say wait a week.
  15. I'm not completely sure, but people don't typically post fake results that are (a) not a top 10 school, (b) not an ivy league school, and (c) somewhat close to the prediction. Maybe a job for my new blogger buddy could be to make sure after a few days of crickets.
  16. I'm going to write an official blog post soon and post this also in the rejection and blog threads, but I've asked a fellow applicant to collaborate with me on the blog. This person's role would be to call universities at appropriate times and check on the status of decisions. We hope that by doing this we can alleviate some stress on the applicant side as well as on the side of professors, grad students, or administrators in philosophy departments, the latter by reducing the amount of applicants calling and emailing. We never before have done this and it is possible it won't work. If it seems to cause too much trouble, my collaborator may withdraw from the role. Please let us know how you feel about this and whether or not you think we should continue with this option. Best, Jac

  19. Yeah actually. I would say I'm confident it'll come out this week or next week. Most likely, it won't be earlier than Friday. I picked a date lower than the average because they seem to consistently come out on Friday's. The 12th, 13th, 15th, and 17th seem likely.
  20. UNC probably won't come out till this Friday or next week. UW is all over the place in the past few years. I'm pretty unsure when it'll come out. UCSD is pretty consistent though. I would expect it to come out on the between the 10th and 16th. (...Leaning more toward happening this week.)
  21. Riverside is one of the most unpredictable ones. They've come out mid-Jan, early-feb, mid-feb, and late-feb.
