  1. Oooh. UBC is hard. I have no idea when they'll come out.
  2. I don't really know. Based off of the email Nat got, I would guess next week. But again, really it could come out any day. Also, I think Princeton will come out next week. It would be very atypical for them to come out this week when they in the past four years have released the first week of March.
  3. Congratulations! Don't just presume a rejection now. Harvard has a history of sending out acceptances and wait lists over the course of a few days. If they are already sending out official letters, this means they have to wait until your letter is approved.
  4. If whoever wrote the Princeton post wants to stay anonymous but wants to pass on the information, you can either message me here or email me (in which case I'll know who you are, but of course wont tell anyone) OR you could fill out a funding survey from my blog with the information about Princeton and your email and identity will be completely concealed from even me.
  5. I'll let philosophe answer the main question above. As to just generally when I think MIT will release. I am very confident it will be this week and believe it'll be on Wednesday or Friday, just from past trends. A lot of schools will only release on M, W, or F for some reason and MIT seems to be one of them. As with the Pitt tip I got (which was that Pitt would be meeting that Friday evening---a day before they released), the MIT tip seems very similar and is probably meant to mean that final decisions would be made that day. If they're like Pitt and the tip is of the same sort, we should hear from MIT Wednesday late afternoon to early evening or Thursday.
  6. All that stuff is ridiculous. I actually misspelled the name of one of the schools I applied to. Luckily, the administrator replaced it the next day before the applications were even due. But I freaked out about that for so long.
  7. I wouldn't hesitate to call and see if there's anything you can now do. Most likely, they'll tell you it isn't a big deal and that they'll only really need something later if you're given an offer.
  8. :). I know what you mean. I constantly check my phone. CONSTANTLY. The worst is that I've recently started tutoring a student who sends me a bunch of emails all day and I'm like OMG MIT!!!! no....wait....no....
  9. I would say Davis is not done sending acceptances. They seem to send in waves, like UCLA. From what I understand, they accept, wait for responses, then accept more, and so on and so forth until they're satisfied. That does leave us quite in the dark however. Keep your chin up. We're all rooting for you here.
  10. It's probably a bad prediction. We don't take into account important changes like when there is a different DGS or deadline (because of how hard it is to gather all that information not because we think they shouldn't account for a prediction change).
  11. I'm going to say that everyone comes out tomorrow and everyone will get into amazing places and it'll be a happy day and we will all know where we are going and it'll be done.
  12. I have a few friends at PhD programs, a few friends applying (who are fucking amazing and also doing fucking amazingly at this whole admissions process), I am one of the people in some cases that I refer to as knowing or refer to as reliable, and finally I get a lot of tips by email and gradcafe messages.
  13. Well, basically the only two predictions I was confident about were Berkeley and MIT.....so, if the past has anything to say about it, MIT will come out tomorrow. At least I didn't come home from a long day and need to post up 50 thousand blog posts about this. I can't believe how far I've been from gradcafe today. I almost felt like a real person.
  14. I'm feeling really confident about MIT and Harvard. Like usual, they'll probably make calls around 5 or 6 EST (note I have no particular basis for the guess on time-- just trends from other departments this year.) I have no idea about Boston College. Very confused about that one.
  15. Yes. I did apply to Yale. And thanks . Giving you both some luck too.
  16. But still, no one should despair completely yet. They have still yet to send out wait lists....and who knows....maybe a few more acceptances. In the distant past, Yale has spread out acceptances over like 5 days.
  17. I was wondering if it was possibly that a few different profs were sending out the acceptances....like POIs or something, but I was told that the email wasn't from her POI. Who knows? Any other guesses? I can imagine some of us will be up waiting for the call/email. If they're sending them out this late, maybe it'll be later. (crazy anxious applicant mind)
  18. I know the person who got in and it's legitimate.
  19. Anyone want to claim UConn? Also, congratulations!
  20. Congratulations! That's so exciting!
  21. I would really like to second this last point. For any schools A and B that have sent you an offer of acceptance if you would choose A over B, immediately tell B that you are declining their offer even if you don't know if you want to go to A in the end. (As mentioned above, this goes for any schools you've applied to but wouldn't go to now that you're in another program. Just withdraw your application. Admission committees appreciate it, other applicants appreciate it, and it doesn't matter to you much more than just knowing someone else accepted you.) I know it's hard to tell someone you don't want to go to their department, but think of it as giving some other applicant a chance.
  22. Yale is probably done with acceptances, but they are probably not done with wait lists. It would be odd if we didn't see any post of the wait list here.
