  1. Ahh. That is tough. Wishing you luck with UNC then.
  2. Second that. THE BEST MATH! I guess it's time to get out my trench coat and ski mask again.
  3. Does your SO not want to be at Pitt or Virginia?
  4. could still mean emailed out. I've heard some language like that before for emailing
  5. Totally agree about Arizona
  6. I still believe USC will have rejections after acceptances and wait lists.
  7. not yet. they seem to do waves of acceptances over the course of even a month.
  8. I would say a combination of waves of acceptances (maybe they do it by AOIs) and a few admitted applicants have rejected offers and they're running second rounds of acceptances. In any case, I would definitely not give up hope. They seem to take their time spreading out and it doesn't look like just coming off wait lists.
  9. So they can pull from the no-status pile if enough people they admit reject their offer. That's at least what I've heard about the department at my dad's school.
  10. Fortunately, I have a spread sheet made. I'll just send them that and tell them to make an educated decision when looking at the stats about whether or not something may be fake. I might also put the spread sheet up on the blog for everyone's reference. Maybe when everything is dying down a bit more and I FINALLY get that funding page up. As for UNC, pretty sure they'll come out by Friday based on my source. He says maybe Wednesday, but most likely Friday. Definitely dream, definitely.
  11. Just as a general answer to this question: My dad is a phd candidate (in his 50s, go dad!) at one of top twenty PGR ranked schools (though he doesn't do philosophy) and he's in close contact with the professors who explained a little something to me the other day. (Makes a lot of sense too.) Generally as we know, schools will keep some if not all rejected candidates waiting. Since they accept so few candidates and (at least some schools) have so little funding, they don't really have a choice other than keep people waiting. Now responding to the question above, it's definitely a good sign if you're not included in the first round of rejections, but I can't imagine everyone in the first round is everyone at all that'll be rejected (not including wait lists). (And for those in the first round, don't be alarmed. There are so many reasons you might be rejected. It'll mainly be because of a fit problem. You did too much phil of mind. They don't have a phil of mind prof, don't want any new phil of mind students this year, or have too many phil of mind applicants. We've all heard they try to fill certain spots. Sometimes you are the perfect candidate for a spot they're just not interested in this year.) As we've learned with CUNY in the past (and maybe USC this year as well), some schools do send out a lot of rejections first, but also send a waves after. Be happy you didn't get one, but don't read too much hope into it. They're probably just trying to notify the first group so people can just hear back as soon as possible. As to the question (not posed above) about why they don't just wait list more people. I'm not really sure, but if they have to fund visits in any way, that could be a reason not to do that.
  12. Alrighty, heading over now in a nearby possible world.
  13. We are more than willing to set up some PO boxes if you want to send us gifts and money
  14. I guess put Harvard on the list now too, but for a week or so since one may have come out today.
  15. I removed the Princeton post, notification of acceptance, and date from the predictions page. Thank you so much Nat.
  16. Maybe also contact Princeton and Yale in the middle or late next week if there's no change in hearing from people.
  17. I love you.
  18. I still sort of think Princeton is a fraud.... But...idk idk idk. 3 posts......but it's not particularly hard to post three times..... Yale.....
  19. I'm so confused.....Yale.....Princeton.....what do I do? To post or not to post.... I think I need Nat..... We should probably wait till next week....see what's happening then. I'm still super confused that no one has claimed anything on the forums.
  20. Congratulations also to the Princeton admits. If whoever it is that got them is not feeling like bragging all over TGC, would you consider messaging or emailing me? If you fill out the funding page on the blog, it goes to my inbox completely anonymously too. I'm just trying to verify before I post on my blog.
  21. You're right. Until there's a rejection letter, you have no idea. I even just got an email today saying something about how Berkeley is having a hard time with funding and getting students to stay across many disciplines. I could be totally wrong about the schools I just said were hopeless. If you want to hear back from them explicitly, you can always email.
  22. I'm suspicious that it's legitimate because it is a top school and it is particularly early even for the two week earlier deadline. (I personally think that early deadlines don't mean much at all and they're mainly due to the graduate school as a whole imposing deadlines than any particular department wanting to release earlier.) So, Princeton has exclusively released in March in the past four years. I do think that whoever said that a particularly excited POI might contact an applicant early. I hesitate to post anything on the blog though. Note that there was a similar Harvard acceptance too. From what I understand, the Harvard accepted person was a bit reserved when telling the friend about the acceptance. Maybe it was an excited POI saying "surprise, but shhhh"
  23. I'm really unsure about this. I keep trying to say something about this and keep typing and erasing. Idk what they're up to.
  24. Sorry, that wasn't incredibly uplifting. If they are just releasing interviews, I wouldn't worry yet at all. If it's just been a day or two, I also wouldn't worry yet. Just remember that all it takes is one and there are still schools you applied to that haven't released yet. (Also, any specific worries can me messaged to me and I'll try my best to make a clean judgment about them.)
  25. If you've applied to Stony Brook or Fordham and haven't heard back, I would guess that you wont be accepted based off of some information I've gotten from other applicants that have contacted them. I would also guess that for Berkeley now too, though I'm not as certain since no one has contacted them and received an email that has said "You're rejected" or "All acceptances have already come out"
