  1. Yes I am! Just sent you a message. Yay Atlanta!
  2. Thanks! Ill be working with Gary Miller! Super kicked about it! Good luck at BU!! The dean of the school is amazing (I am in love with him)!!
  3. Emory University, Environmental Health Sciences,Toxicology (Neurotoxicology is most likely)
  4. Thank you! I havent yet, just the department offer letter. I am going to meet faculty up in Sterling Forest (where the labs are) on Wednesday- I guess i'll get a better idea about the place. Ill ask them about the letter if I don't receive it before then.. The department 'would like to know' my decision by March 24th apparently.. I need to have an answer soon I guess.. Did the Public Health school ask you something similar?
  5. Will do @soccergal87! I got an offer letter from NYU this morning though, PhD in EHS in their Department of Environmental Medicine. Yay! However, this was the only program I applied to that wasn't in a school of public health. That is definitely going to take away from its appeal. I am gonna have to sit down and make pro con lists between Emory and NYU. Has anyone come across good ways of doing that? I read an article that suggested listing factors that I think are important, giving them a weight, score each school out of 10 for that factor and then add up the points (after multiplication with the weight) to get a total score for each school. Any other suggestions?
  6. I sent the admissions coordinator an email yesterday, no response yet. I wish they would just tell me something, so I can move on.. annoying.
  7. Thanks @COGSCI and @PhDinPublicHealthHopeful! It is definitely a relief, that difference between 'sure, grad school' and 'oh shit, this is really happening' is rather big lol. The NYU program I applied to has a decent enough stipend. I studied and lived in the city during my MPH, I agree, it'll be tough to make it seem worth it without good enough financial security. @nr12456 I hope you hear soon! It seems like historically BU sends out acceptances in the second week of march.. And I know that a current grad student at Columbia didn't hear back until April- so I guess we keep waiting..
  8. Hello all, We are almost there, 45 (ish) days to knowing what my life for the next 4-5 years will look like! Woohoo? Update on application status: Emory- Environmental Health Sciences: accepted (waiting to hear about a fellowship) UW- EHS: interviewed 3 weeks ago- no word after (I assume i am on a waitlist) UCLA- Molecular Toxicology: Waitlist NYU- Environmental Medicine: Interview this week Harvard- Biological Sciences in Public Health: rejected UC Berkeley- EHS: rejected (I hate generic rejection letters) Boston University- EHS: no word yet. :-/ Congratulations on the acceptances fellow public health professionals!!
  9. hey! Congratulations! Since the new I20 will be a from a different school you will need a new visa. Cos the visa needs to be sponsored by the school you are enrolled in. I graduated from a master's program in may 2015 too and plan to go back to school in fall of 2016, I am sure Ill need a new visa, go through the whole application process again. :-/ not looking forward to that. oh well.
  10. Hey TonyaB, I know, its quite stressful. I emailed NYU about the interview being a requirement and GES said they didn't know. I applied to the Environmental Health Department which is in their School of Medicine, so the process might be different from the Public Health school.
  11. Hey! I applied to the Environmental and Occupational Health Department, PhD in toxicology specifically. They sent me an email last evening about the interview. I guess the Global health department might still be deliberating.
  12. Congratulations on the interviews and acceptances people! I have applied to PhD programs in Environmental Health Sciences departments (toxicology) at: 1) NYU 2) Boston University 3) Emory: invited to interview 4) U of Washington: Invited to interview 5) UC Berkeley 6) UCLA 7) Harvard (Biological Sciences in Public health) I am waiting to hear back from most. Admission coordinators at UC Berkeley and BU said interviews are not a necessary part of the process and they will release decisions by feb - mid march. I have lost hope for Harvard, I think most interview invitations have been sent out (based on history)- oh well, it was a long shot.
