  1. I haven't heard anything yet either. For the record, my name is at the end of the alphabet so maybe that's why they haven't gotten to my result yet.
  2. I'll jump on board with wanting some evidence for Toronto and NYU. I'm 99% sure that NYU is fake, but I'm not so sure about Toronto. My only reason to be suspicious of the Toronto post is that there was only one today. Perhaps someone got a special fellowship? Anyone around to claim it?
  3. I was also rejected. Boo! Why wouldn't you want to work with Elliott Sober?
  4. A rejection from UCSD and now a presumed rejection from Pitt...Rough day!
  5. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'm also seeing one that says Waitlisted on 12 Feb. It's possible that they simply forgot to change the date when posting their result, but wouldn't it be cool if more waitlists were coming?
  6. Madison, WashU, and Notre Dame AHHHHHHHHH! Can you tell I'm stressing haha
  7. Then here's the plan. Get everyone who was accepted to Penn to reject. Then get everyone on the waitlist to reject except for you. Then they'll have no choice but to go to the pool of people that they were going to reject (which includes me) and they'll accept me. Then you and I both get to go to Penn! Deal?
  8. Waitlisted at Irvine! I am queen of the waitlists! Now I just need to become queen of the acceptances...
  9. I had a hit from South Bend, IN. Hopefully this means something about Notre Dame.
  10. Just a hypothesis so take it with a grain of salt. They want to cover themselves in the off chance that everyone who was accepted or waitlisted declines. They don't want to be left with no incoming students, so they leave some people in limbo just in case.
  11. Come on WashU and Madison! I need some good news!
  12. I faced this conundrum the last time I applied. First, think long and hard about whether you would really NEVER accept under ANY circumstances. If you wouldn't, then it's best to email the department explaining that you would like to have your application withdrawn (say as much or as little as you want in regards to reasons). For good measure you could also withdraw your application through the application portal, but I didn't bother to do that when I applied. My reason for doing things this way is that it just seemed like the polite thing to do. Adcomms spend a lot of time on reviewing applications. You're wasting their time if you have no intention of attending. However, this is your decision and do what you think is best.
  13. Presumed rejections from Penn and UCSD today...rough day. I am still holding out hope for UCSD. When I last applied to UCSD a couple of years ago, they accepted around 30 students and waitlisted no one. If that's still the case, then it's possible that they just didn't get around to calling everyone today...or at least that's the hope!
  14. I can't answer your entire question but I can answer part. If something happens and you can't make it to the scheduled visit weekend, then they let you decide a different time to visit (at least that's the way it worked the last time I applied). Only one of the schools that I got into didn't have a formal group visit weekend.
  15. I had kind of a weird experience regarding getting an MA. I went to a Leiter-ranked undergrad that's very highly ranked in my area of interest. I was told by multiple professors that our reputation wasn't good enough so I had to get an MA to be competitive in a PhD program. After hearing the stories of people in MA programs and meeting many people in MA programs, I'm not sure I got the best advice. Having said all that, I LOVED my MA program. I'm not sure I needed to do it, but I'm VERY glad I did.
  16. I'm kind of curious what your waitlist letter said. Mine was filled with the typical superlatives that come with letters of this kind, but there was nothing to indicate that this was anything other than a form letter.
  17. I hate to ask you to elaborate on a prediction since you've already done so much work but...Any further predictions on WashU? They were predicted to come out on Friday, so I was just wondering do they tend to release on Fridays (so I shouldn't expect anything until late next week) or is Monday a possibility? Thanks again for all your hard work!
  18. Just found out I was waitlisted at Indiana's HPS department! It's not an acceptance, but I'm still excited. Now to start convincing people not to go to Indiana HPS haha
  19. Congrats to everyone who's heard good news so far! I'm hoping to hear from WashU tomorrow. Ah! I'll be refreshing my email obsessively. Also, are we sure about the Irvine LPS acceptance? If I'm looking at the right thing it says "history of science." Couldn't that be a separate department? Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part because I don't want to be shut out from my first three schools.
  20. I didn't hear from Duke or Indiana HPS today, so I'm assuming the news is bad.
  21. I used to love weekends but now I dread them because it means no more admittance news until at least Monday.
  22. I have to be kind of cryptic because I don't want people to find out who I am. I'm currently a PhD student in a top 25 Leiter program. I HATE it SO much! It's awful! I'd rather not do philosophy than stay in this program. As such, I've decided that I'm going to leave my program even if I don't get in anywhere. I feel bad because I've invested 3 years of my life into this program, but my happiness is worth more. My main interests are in Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Biology, and Philosophy of Perception. I applied to 15 programs with hopes that I can get into just one! I may update my signature to indicate which programs but I'm not sure yet (again, I'm trying to avoid any identifying information in fear my current department will find me). So hello all. Thanks for having me!
  23. Spent the day obsessively checking my email hoping for one from Duke. Maybe I'm foolish but I'm having a hard time believing that all acceptances went out. I have three schools that are supposed to send out acceptances a week from tomorrow, but I don't want to wait that long! I just want to know what I'm doing next year!
  24. Damn...I really wanted to get into Duke.
  25. The fellowship is the Olin fellowship. But there are other fellowships!
