  1. To whomever is at the source of the log jam I'm in: prithee, decide.
  2. I'm down to a good offer at my second choice, and waitlisted at my first choice. I'm starting to have weird rejection dreams about my first choice, and I am mostly in the dark about whether there has been any movement on their WL, or what their current roster of acceptances looks like. I'm also worried that the clock will run out, and I will have to say "yes" to my second choice, before my first choice knows if it can make an offer or not. For those of you in similar positions, how are you staying sane?
  3. I assume you can still notify the department's DGA?
  4. May I ask if you've made a decision about where you'll be going?
  5. told you so! hah!
  6. Congratulations!
  7. yes, philosophy is a small world, best not to start out in it by making these kinds of remarks to folks.
  8. I have now declined UCSD and UCLA, so that I'm down to my second choice and my wait list choice going into this last week.
  9. I declined UPenn last night.
  10. Does anybody have an idea of when the announcements will be made? I checked online but all I saw was "spring 2016". Trying to figure out what my funding would look like at the different programs with and without sshrc, and the deadline to decide about phd programs is, of course, april 15th. Thanks for your help

  12. Yes, definitely. Also, I told them about my other offers, and they may consider contacting an alternate in case I decline. They said the reason for the late decision was that I'm international, and they can only admit one international per year. I imagine the alternate would also be international.
  13. got accepted to UCLA yesterday, I'm guessing off a waitlist?
  14. Not that I'm expecting to get offers from Princeton or Columbia, but does anyone know when their visit dates would potentially be? I'm planning a whirlwind tour in order to visit as many programs as I possibly can, while missing the least amount of school, but I only want to make one cross-continental flight (I'm currently in SoCal). This might be an unreasonable expectation, but right now I've got five programs scheduled into 11 days. These programs seem to want me to book my travel and confirm my visits asap. I did not necessarily want to visit so many places, but my advisor told me to try to visit as many as possible, hence the magical mystery tour. Thoughts?
