I also just received an admittance from UNM and will probably be turning it down in the next few days since I have better funding offers from other schools. Good luck!

Where are some of these threads about how to negotiate? I have an amazingly funded offer from an incredible school but I also have an offer from a program that is really enticing but the funding isn't nearly as good although they did say to let them know about other offers so that they could stay competitive. This just seems like an awkward conversation to start. This was really helpful. Thank you for laying it out so clearly.

From what I've heard Academia.edu is helpful to have when you go on the job market. I have an account and I post conference papers but not my seminar papers. I've also had several hits from schools I've applied to, I think that it's a way for professors in the program to get more of an idea about the work that you do.

I've also applied to U of New Mexico and haven't heard anything yet. One of my committee members who used to work there says they usually reply at the beginning of March.
