That sucks Which concentration did you apply to?
-
It's highly dependent on the school/program. Some don't mind, some only allow deferment under special circumstances, and some don't allow it at all.
-
Did you get the impression that they're interviewing all top choices, or does it seem more like a case by case basis?
-
I got rejected from UIC today, too
-
Has anyone who was accepted at UT Health received the 1k Outstanding New Student scholarship?
-
Thank you so much for that insight into the process! That makes me hopeful that it could be a pre-cursor to acceptance. I hope you get some good news soon, too!
-
While most PhD programs do interviews, many don't! Good luck to you though, my fingers are crossed for both of us.
-
Are you sure they do an interview? Because I haven't seen any interviews on the results page. After doing some digging, I found that some people get accepted and some get rejected after their status is changed to "additional review required" so I think it can go either way! I didn't apply to WashU, but that sucks
-
I was literally just about to post about UIC! I applied to the PhD in community health sciences, not MCH, and my portal messaged changed from "under review" to "additional review required" which sounds like a bad sign to me ?What does your portal say?
-
I had an interview with them last week and I'll be chatting with a POI soon, so fingers crossed. I was surprised before that we didn't have more program overlap, with such similar interests!
-
Thanks, MCH! Still nothing from USF, I'm starting to think they forgot about me?
-
As someone who just got rejected after an interview, I can assure you it sucks the most ?? Not even waitlisted, straight out rejected ?
-
To everyone asking for interview advice, below is a link to a real-time practice interview that I found very helpful! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HArl8nZJyKM&t

Like they said, you passed the first round of cuts. The professors will look at the remaining pool of applicants, and pick the one/s they want to advise. It's not guaranteed that anyone will pick you, it will depend on multiple factors. But, of course, it's a good thing that you made it to this point. Did you email any of the professors before applying?
-
I meant SLU! Our stats are similar, my GPA is 4.0 and my GRE is 317. Did you interview last month?
-
I applied to the community and family health PhD program.
-
Anyone else applying to St. Louis University? I was invited to have a thirty minute chat with the PhD program director sometime in the next two weeks.
-
My app status has said that for weeks, since before I interviewed.
-
Have you guys noticed on the results page that some non-public health programs are doing in-person campus visits and interviews? That's so crazy to me!
-
I was able to remain patient through December, but I know that I'll receive at least two decisions (from programs where I interviewed) in the month of January, so the suspense is starting to ramp up. I'm trying to focus on enjoying the present with my foster daughter, but I can't help checking my email/ grad café multiple times a day!
-
It was pretty low-key, no curve balls. A panel of three people interviewed me and it lasted about thirty minutes. I honestly don't think they're accepting me though, I was pretty awkward ?
-
No, but at my interview they said they'd make their decisions "in January".
-
I'm sure it varies by program. For the first program I interviewed for, there were 7 interview spots to select from and they told me they'd accept 5-9 students. For the second program I interviewed for, there were 11 interview spots to select from, and they told me they'd accept... I don't remember exactly, maybe 7-10, but that it partially depends how many students the other programs in the department want to accept. So basically, in general, I think you have a better than 50% chance of getting the offer, once you interview.

I had an interview with U of Maryland last month, and I was accepted to UT Houston this week.
-
I applied to the community health PhD program at USF and received an interview invite today, if that helps.
