I would suggest asking students at the program you're considering what the TA commitment is like. I think it can greatly vary from school to school, so a current students will have the best (and hopefully most honest) idea of what goes into that TAship.

Hang in there!! I was recently admitted off the wait list at a place that I'm really excited about, so it could happen to you too!

If it is your top choice program, I would encourage you to be very transparent about that with them. I would probably steer away from lying- if you're looking for a research-oriented career, there is a good chance that you could run into that POI at conferences or other professional settings, an you wouldn't want to develop a reputation for lying. My guess would be that they don't want to make too many offers that get turned down, so they're trying to feel out your interest in them.

@St0chastic are all the programs you've been accepted to cognitive neuroscience? (I saw that's you're program type). Congrats on the acceptances!
