    I thanked one of my POI at Penn for taking the time to correspond with me prior to the admissions and she wrote me back by saying this: "I'm very sorry we weren't able to offer you a spot, it was an *incredibly* tough year for admissions. I appreciate the note and I hope you're able to continue your research interests nonetheless. Warmly," I feel like at least she knows my existence in the world and even I end up elsewhere else maybe our paths can cross again in the future? who knows!?

    Sad to share that I was rejected from UPENN ASC. It was my dream school and had my hopes too high I guess! Congrats to anyone on this thread who got accepted to ASC and good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back from other programs (I still have 6 left!)

    Cool! I just contacted them prior to my applications to make sure my research is a good fit w/ their dept. I spoke to 2 or 3 professors there including the DGS and they were all very friendly and gave me good information to their program as they are relatively new (re-branded from Comp. Lit dept) They said they only admit 3-5 grad students (including Masters) to offer full funding pkg to every admitted students. Good Luck!

    Nice! On the status page it says decisions will be out by mid-March but based on last year's results it seems like they make their decisions by end of Feb. Have you spoken to any of your POIs or DGS before applying to the program?

    Congrats!!! I'm also waiting to hear back from Berkeley but I was told by my PI earlier before applications that they will only accept 3-4 cohorts this year. I'm curious how many ended up applying to UCB this year.

    Cool! one of my recommenders also told me he got a thank you letter from UPENN. Can't wait to hear back from them as it's my top choice Good Luck!

    Thanks! I'm seeing an interview post on RTF and crossing my fingers that they will skip my interview b/c I already had an informal interview w/ one of my PI there. Do you think you will accept the offer at UT?

    Did you interview for the Comm Studies PhD program at UT Austin? I applied to RTF Media Studies and haven't heard back yet ?

    I'm glad to see a MFA student here! I actually graduated from MFA in 2018 and applying for PhD for this cycle. So I'm hoping w/ PhD admissions deferral will be allowed given it's a 4-5 year commitment.

    I think UCB admits 3-4 but who knows!

    Do you think Fall 2021 admitted students will have the option to defer one year like Fall 2020 admits?

    Hmmm... I didn't get anything from Northwestern Screen Cultures yet... but then again I'm an international student so hoping they have a separate virtual sessions for Int'l students!

    Just heard from Northwestern Screen Cultures program that they will invite finalist for interview on campus or virtually by end of Feb.

    Congrats Brian! How exciting!!! I don't expect to hear back from my programs until Mid Feb / Early March.
