  1. What's weird is it seems like no one's heard from JHU? There's one post in the results & it says something about official invites coming in Feb. I'm still not really expecting anything, but it's weird
  2. Yay, happy to see a cognition/perception thread! Applied to Princeton, Hopkins (PBS), Brown (CLPS), UCSD (Cog Sci), CMU (Psych), Duke (CNAP), MIT (BCS), Harvard (Neuro), WashU (Psych), Yale (Psych), & Stanford (Neuro). Just got an invite to visit Princeton! Pretty ecstatic - I'm amazed to get any interviews coming straight from undergrad. Sounds like I've maybe already missed out on Duke & CMU interviews though.
  3. You should not be paying for a PhD in cognitive science or neuroscience. Most places will waive tuition and provide a living stipend.
  4. I'm actually working in a neuro lab that's starting to use some VR. I'd prioritize the coding/tech skills (so maybe a major in comp sci or electric engineering), then take neuro/psych on the side as a second major, minor, etc. You'll end up with a useful skill that you can either bring to a lab as something to offer and you can actually get a job if you decide not to do the PhD thing. Other suggestion: google scholar the topic and see what work is being done, what departments they're in, etc. I'm not super familiar with it, but my guess is computational neuroscience is actually probably not what you want, since it's a lot about creating mathematical models (vs actually doing experiments with VR). If you are interested in that, applied math might be a good choice.
  5. Hi! So I feel silly even asking, but want some advice. I'll be applying to cognitive neuroscience programs in the fall and just got my offical GRE scores back. I got a 170 V, 158 Q (70th percentile), and 5.5 writing. So not scores to be upset about... but I'm still a little worried because my advisors have said quant is the most important. Any advice?
