Hello!
I'm new to the thread but have been creeping it for a couple months! Haha.
I was wondering if anyone else applied to Carleton? There aren't too many posts on here about it so I wanted to check! I applied for the 2 year program as my backup in case I don't get into U of T. I was accepted into Carelton on Feb 23, but am still waiting for U of T!!
Is anyone else thinking about Carleton? To be honest I don't know too much about the program and am hoping to learn more!
Yes, I'd applied to Carleton's advanced standing and was accepted a few weeks ago with funding. However, I decided to go to U of T.
I'd originally applied to Carleton because they offer a policy specialization that was placement based. I want to do mental health policy for youth but as I read more and more about it, it seemed like the policy was more welfare-specific and didn't allow for much specialization beyond that. However, that was just my take! If you have any specific questions I *might* be able to answer them but likely not. Message if you'd like Seems to not be many other Carleton people on here.

I received an email from Milene from Ryerson today requesting that I fill out and send in the application form for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship and she attached the form to the email. The email continued on to say that this does not mean I have been admitted or am receiving the scholarship only that my GPA qualifies me to be recommended for the scholarship. I hope that means they are seriously considering me. Has anyone gotten this email?
That sounds like a really good sign to me.
I'm also jealous, as I didn't think I had a chance of getting into U of T so I didn't apply for OGS -- now that I was accepted, I'm having some SERIOUS regrets. This is a first positive step for you!

I know this has been chatted about already but I can't seem to find it in the last forum --
Does anyone know the program size for U of T?? (specifically year 2/advanced standing). Something is telling me it's 100 but I have no idea where I got that number from lol

You guys! I received an offer to UBC-O on Friday! I spent most of the day bawling, I was so excited (and then was subsequently rejected for my 1st choice for psych at Carleton so, really, a whirlwind few days of emotion) but I'm still thrilled about UBC. Now I just keep checking ROSI. I hope the two-year results come quickly- I have to let UBC know by March 17 and the wait is killing me.
On a side note: this is such a supportive community, so I wanted to take a second to say that you all are great. So quick to offer assistance and advice, and for people like me that spent most of the time lurking the page and hyperventilating through the process, I really appreciated all the comments on the forum. Hoping you all receive good news soon!
Congrats on UBC, @LaingerMAMSW! Hopefully U of T updates 2-years soon!!
I second that. I would've felt SO lost and overwhelmed during this process if not for this community. None of my peers from my BSW are applying to grad school yet, and it's been so nice to talk with people that understand. THANKS EVERYONE just for being here!

I don't want to get myself too excited until I receive that letter, but yes, I will absolutely accept. UofT is the only university I applied to. How about you?
What stream did you apply to? I applied to the full time (adv standing) Gerontology stream.
Ok I got my letter yesterday!! Can't believe I got it out here in the prairies before you in ON but maybe they're just.. unorganized? But I've never read on any forum that there was a mistake on ROSI so I'm so confident you'll get your letter soon.
Also I was accepted to the mental health stream (adv standing). And was also accepted at Carleton.

Hahaha. Okay, that makes me feel better. Though, I only live an hour away from Toronto, so not sure why it is taking so long. My mail has come today and it is not there YET AGAIN!! Maybe tomorrow will be the big day for both of us
I was actually so excited to go home from work and check my mail... Darn. Here's SO hoping it's soon.
Are you 100% convinced you'll accept U of T?

Does anyone else's status on ROSI say "invited", but they have not received any mail from UofT yet?? I know someone mentioned that they received their package last Friday. Am I just being super impatient????? lol
NO YOU'RE NOT IMPATIENT this is my exact life. Though I live in Winnipeg so I thought it was just me.

Anyone have any suggestions re: decision making?
I was offered funding at my second choice school but not at my first. I know it's the best dilemma in the world to have but I'm just curious how other people have/would make those kinds of decisions?

I hope I get mine today. For me, showing "invited" on ROSI is not good enough....I NEED to have that letter in my hand for it to be real (lol). I saw the mail man drive past my house on Friday and nearly cried (lol). Congrats on your acceptance. What stream have you chosen?
I keep checking ROSI to make sure it hasn't changed and that this isn't all some ridiculous dream... the letter means ROSI is legit. I'm in the same boat!

Or anything from Carleton? Still waiting to hear about advanced standing.

Congrats!!! Well deserved

Congrats to everyone who saw on ROSI they were accepted to UofT.
Few questions: Did your SGS account change to decision made or does it still say under review?
Do your last names begin with a letter in the first half of the alphabet (A to M).
What are second round admission waves?
Mine still says under review as well! And my last name is Baker, so definitely first if they go alphabetically.
According to other forms, I believe there should be multiple waves even for advanced standing? Though now I'm second guessing myself. Please don't give up hope - so few of us say invited, and this is only the beginning for ALL schools.
Best of luck everyone!!

Guys! My ROSI says I'm invited to U of T's advanced standing!
I think that means I got in?

Hi everyone!
Boy...it sure is comforting to know that I am not alone with my anxiety over acceptance letters. I found the first 2 months, I was totally fine and not thinking about it, but now it's ALL I can think about. I just logged onto this cafe today and felt better knowing that everyone is feeling the same way. Misery loves company (lol).
I have applied to UofT only, advanced standing MSW program.
Anyone else heard anything yet???Nothing yet!
Hating all this waiting. It's nice not being the only one in it though

UofT held interviews for the MSW-ITR applicants 2 weeks ago and should be advising them this week, then I believe it is Advanced Standing the week after or so.
Ah the inside scoop - thanks for letting me know @Dry_Guy! If my creeping last year's forum would suggest, this is later than other years. Any idea why that is?

Thanks Roxxx! I am waiting to hear back from Carleton, U of T and Laurier for the 2 year program. I have been working as an addiction counsellor for three years. I also have research experience with the government on mental health programs for police officers. I have a few volunteer roles too.
I am hoping to stay local and get into Carleton. Fingers crossed. I know last year everyone found out on February 11th for both advanced standing and 2 year programs so it should be any day now. I know that Carleton got hacked in December so that may slow things down a bit. Only time will tell !
Yay another Carleton hopeful! There hasn't been much of that on here. Though I've applied to advanced standing (also at U of T), not 2 year. Sounds like no one's heard a peep from most schools including these two..?

This is super sadistic and evil but I am happy advanced standing will have to wait longer like the two years MUHAHAHHAHAHAHA (unless this means two year won't hear back till even later....then I take it back)
Haha rude.. I'm with @Inspired2017. If we have to wait then so will you!

Ok,
I grew some and called....sorry, my friend called. My friend told me that they said the earliest advanced standing would hear anything would be the end of February.Noo that's so disappointing.
THANK YOU THANK YOU for saving me three weeks of refreshing (though we all know it'll happen anyways..)

Please do and let us know

Get a friend, who could care less about this process, to give Angela a call to see when results are being released if you want. That way, you didn't call, the person who did doesn't care, but you'll get an answer.
GUYS I am in this boat with you. It could be TODAY. or not for like. weeks. The agonyyyy.

Anyone else feel like their life is in limbo while they are waiting to find out if they are accepted? I don't know whether I should be looking for a full time job or planning for another year of school.
Yesss I hate the uncertainty. I'd be moving provinces so I don't want to get my hopes up by starting to look for apartments but should I be preparing...?!?!
Also when people start getting acceptances can you post in here? My refresh button has never seen so much action.

OK everyone. Just finished reading through ALL of last year's forum. Oh my. The anxiety is real.
And also, us advanced standing people should be hearing in as early as 2 weeks! Wild.
