  1. I'm probably working myself up a bit for no reason...but my first class starts today and I'm already scared I'm not going to enjoy this. Did you like school? If not, did you find it easy to power through anyway? Any advice would be awesome
  2. Yes, I start next month after Labor Day. Though I am a part-time student no so fieldwork for me til next year
  3. Your concentration won't be listed on your diploma. You could leave it off a resume depending on the job you're applying for.
  4. Curious how much your loan payment is? If you don't mind sharing.
  5. I was accepted to three schools. I was torn between two, so I visited/sat in one classes at both. One school was not very welcoming at all, and the class size was very large, which ended up making my decision for me.
  6. Oh, it looks like you accidentally posted in the SW forum, there might be a physics forum on this site as well!
  7. I was wondering if any current MSW students in this forum had advice for newly accepted students. Tips on managing stress, staying organized, or anything else really. Thank you!
  8. I rejected my offer on March 3rd. Crossing my fingers for you!
  9. I am choosing a weekend part-time program for this reason. I was really torn between two schools, and taking four years to finish is a bit of a drag... but I can work full-time now and save money during my foundation classes, and cut back on work during the two fieldworks. These decisions are rough. Good luck!
  10. Yes, LMSW is not a degree. it's a post-MSW license Although in some states it's "Graduate" or "Associate" instead of "Masters"
  11. I'm not necessarily advocating for this move but I called the admissions office of a school with a blocked number. The person who answered the phone (an admissions assistant) was able to give me a mailing date for letters, without me having to give my name. So, you might be able to get the information you want without any harm.
  12. Congrats! That is great. I was told that the St Kate's info comes in their packet sent in the mail (which I haven't received yet). I believe the U already sent aid info out, at least for fellowships
  13. Accepted to both the U of MN and the St.Katherine/St. Thomas joint program. Waiting to hear from Augsburg College but thrilled about the news already received. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
  14. I called St Kate's and Augsburg (with a blocked phone number because I am paranoid). Augsburg is mailing out all letters March 1st. St Kate's said they already mailed out advanced standing letters but regular standing (that's me) letters will go out by the end of this week. Eee
  15. That's right, I think the U of M was the only school I applied to where you could check the status of application.
  16. Congrats to you! I am in such disbelief. Did you apply to anywhere else? This is my first answer either way from any school
  17. Check yours! I just logged in and my status (accepted) was viewable! Holy cats.
  18. Mine changed an hour ago to "decision made". It says on the general graduate programs page that this means a letter will come via email in the next 24 hours. Anyone also apply to Augsburg or St. Kate's? I haven't heard anything from any schools yet.
  19. So, two of the three schools I'm applying to say something like "Ideally you should have two professional references and one academic. The professional reference should speak to your strengths in the human service field." The mistake I made? I already talked to my recommenders, and finished my applications. Two of my references are academic. Only one is professional. I don't have any social work experience anyway, so it's not like I could have submitted two great letters by supervisors from the field speaking to my strengths. However, one of academic references hasn't even started my letters yet. I guess I could tell her "hey thanks, but actually no thanks" and ask for a second professional reference from a non-human service job. Do you all think I'd be better off with two professional references even if they aren't social work ones? Or would two academic references and one professional (non human services) be pretty much the same? I'm way overthinking this, but it feels like any wrong move could totally mess up my chances at admission. The schools do say "ideally" not "required" but I seem to get conflicting answers any time I ask admission counselors for advice.
  20. Staying local and applying to St. Catherine's, the U of Minnesota, and Augsburg College. Never thought I'd be doing this and I'm both eager and terrified.
