  1. Hey, just a friendly disagreement here! My GPA is 4.0 and I've received 1 rejection and a very likely rejection from York so far (I haven't heard anything and I know they sent out acceptances/waitlists), so it's not very true that a high GPA will get you into any school. I have experience as well (I'm not a working professional though), but I think research experience is where I am lacking most. So just don't get let down if you don't hear anything, sometimes it's factors out of our control! A high GPA won't necessarily guarantee an acceptance, just a heads up
  2. It's good to hear that there are others in the same boat! Thank you for the advice!
  3. I am assuming that York only does one round of acceptances, considering how few people they accept. But does anyone know for sure? Is there a possibility of a second round of admissions?
  4. Congratulations!!! That's awesome news! Just now?? That makes me so nervous! Do they send out a couple of rounds of admissions or are they just doing it all at once?
  5. I don't know anything for sure, but from my understanding it is around the beginning of April
  6. The University Of Illinois At Urbana-Champaign UIUC Computer Science, Masters (F17) Accepted via E-mail on 14 Mar 2017 ♦ A 14 Mar 2017 THE WORLD IS MY OYSTER MWAHAHAHHAHAA This one made me laugh
  7. After receiving one rejection, I have found myself more anxious about hearing back from other schools. How do you guys deal with the stress of waiting? I thought sharing ideas might be more productive than sitting here and scrolling through past MSW threads for the 10th time For me, a phone call with a good friend or a walk around my neighbourhood seems to be a decent cure. I also find that making plans to see friends/my partner helps because I can look forward to little things like that, rather than anxiously awaiting something that might not happen for weeks. And of course, the good old call to mom always helps me too!
  8. Yup! Feeling super anxious today while I try to finish this assignment, but luckily the Red Hot Chili Peppers are there to blast through my speakers and get me singing Does dancing in my chair count as exercise?
  9. Neither school has released any decisions for the 2 year programs yet. Hold tight, I know the waiting is tough (I'm waiting for the same schools!), but it sounds like it's still going to be a while before decisions start coming out.
  10. I second that!! I'm currently in school, and this week has been very tough. I have a tedious assignment due at midnight tonight, and it's so hard to keep my focus and not check my email/this forum every ten minutes!
  11. She probably means all waves will be finished by then... crossing my fingers that news comes before that though!
  12. If U of T doesn't say anything about 2 year admissions today, then next week has to be the week it starts.... right? The week we're currently in was the week admissions started for the past couple of application seasons. What do you guys think?
  13. Yup I swear I've been checking everyday since the beginning of February, even though I knew there was no chance of anything changing then. This was the first week last year that people started finding out, so hopefully we will hear something soon. Also, does anyone know when York starts releasing decisions? I don't think I have much of a chance due to the small program size, but I'm just curious as to when I should start expecting to hear from them. I believe it's early April...?
  14. @riaveda that's exactly what mine said too. It also said in the letter that if you have specific questions to contact Samantha Pearson, so it can't hurt to send her an email!
  15. I understand what you mean, I am feeling quite crappy myself right now! We have to remember that sometimes it's factors that have nothing to do with us though. The rejection has really got my down right now as well, but tomorrow is a new day and hopefully we will hear better news from other schools
  16. Me too, just got rejected by Western. They said it was my non-academic requirements - I'm assuming it's my experience. I have a good amount, but not 4000 hours like some that I've been reading about on here. Scares me because I don't really have high hopes for the other three schools I applied for now. Currently in class and it's super hard to concentrate now
  17. Ah, that is definitely tough! I hope you hear something soon! Not knowing can drive you crazy
  18. I keep getting emails from professors, and every time an email notification pops up on my phone screen my heart skips a beat because I keep thinking it might be Western
  19. Hey, at least you still have a chance at getting in! Did they say when you'll know by? Also, I haven't heard anything from Western so I'm starting to think that after admissions and wait list emails, rejections are probably coming next
  20. Does anyone know in general how long it usually is between waves of acceptances for schools? I am just wondering if I should be expecting to hear about an acceptance/rejection from Western any time soon or if it could still be quite some time
  21. Does anyone know of anyone else who has been accepted to Western's 2 year MSW yet? Or if anyone has been rejected? My profile still only says "applied" and I'm getting antsy!!
