  1. Another engineer! Have you found out about the Fulbright? Also, I see you applied for Boren! Wow. That's intense. Which countries can go to with Boren? Isn't that more geared towards political science type things? Or is that the Truman? Hmm. I get them all confused.
  2. For the time being, we need people to sign in and "request access" to the spreadsheet. This guy was just messing around with it all morning. In this way, I can monitor all changes and find out who did what. This guy apparently wasn't smart and was logged into Google so I knew it was him messing it up since I see that. I hope it isn't a problem to sign into Google ...
  3. As of 12.07 pm I approved all y'alls requests to join the spreadsheet! Thanks!
  4. Congrats! Don't forget to schedule your physical exam/blood work and add it on the spreadsheet!
  5. Dear miguelbacigalupe@gmail.com, Please stop messing up the spreadsheet. I know you are doing weird things b/c as admin I can see WHO has made REVISIONS. And everytime I got back a version before yours, everything is fine. For now, to access the spreadsheet, please request "permission" and I'll grant it. I think you might need a Gmail account. I just want to see if it's this person above messing things up. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't mess it up if you requested access w/ your email. Then I'd just hunt you down. Oh, and everyone else on this forum! Thanks! Crimson http://spreadsheets0.google.com/ccc?key=tyJ1HIbZ4lEWDG1vRUaAbnw#gid=8
  6. Thanks guys! I appreciate it!
  7. Well, hopefully, he/she didn't have those type of intentions. Maybe I was just frustrated that someone wouldn't see this spreadsheet as useful, despite the fact people enjoy messing it up. In other news, the gov't didn't shut down!
  8. Hmm, something happened with the grant type column ... I'll have to investigate ... b/c now I have nothing filled out while people who haven't heard have a grant type when they obviously haven't heard ... EDIT: So I had to revert back to a spreadsheet a few hours ago. I know people entered information ... but I guess they can easily re-enter! And check your info guys! Thanks! https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AriON5PQlVdtdHlKMUhJYlo0bEVXREcxdlJVYUFibnc&hl=en&authkey=CNHpkd4P
  9. I fixed the first two rows. It's not f-ed up. Yes it is when stupid people do stupid things. How about you just don't look at the retarded spreadsheet? That's another option than doing away with it. There are some people still waiting for notifications who can use this "retarded" tool.
  10. I don't think so. I just got on and everything looks 'normal.' https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AriON5PQlVdtdHlKMUhJYlo0bEVXREcxdlJVYUFibnc&hl=en&authkey=CNHpkd4P
  11. Not even close to German. Reminds me of IKEA, though! IKEA is Swedish?
  12. Yeah, I can't do that. I only freeze rows. Whenever I sort, I know to start at row three. But it's way too complicated to include that ... I guess I could at the top row ... although if the rows are frozen they shouldn't be able to sort, but I see that people just unfreeze them. Plus, people apparently like to delete the first two rows including the title of the document. I don't understand why you would delete the title?!? I'll look into it, though. EDIT: Actually, I've tried doing this months ago to no avail. Google docs is really clunky.
  13. Did someone mess it up again? Last night it was like that. I don't understand how someone could do that ... UGH. Lemme see ... EDIT: All fixed! https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AriON5PQlVdtdHlKMUhJYlo0bEVXREcxdlJVYUFibnc&hl=en&authkey=CNHpkd4P
  14. I don't think people will lose their jobs (yet). They will just have to close up shop and stay at home. It'll depend on Congress whether to give them backpay or not. This happened in '94 after the Republican takeover and it didn't sit well with the public. It's most definitely an interesting time in American politics.
  15. OUR gov't! The U.S.! If Congress doesn't approve a budget to run gov't to September or another stopgap measure by Friday, then essentially all non-essential gov't employees will be furloughed. It's a good assumption that State Dept workers looking at our clearance forms are not "vital" to human health. Sigh.
  16. I concur. Plus, if I were to visit Norway, where would I stay?
  17. Sorry! It's easier for me to fix and revert if there aren't 15 people on the document. Google docs is very clunky with many users. So I usually make it private so I can have an "easier" time looking at changes. If you'd like, you can request to have "edit privileges". I don't know the option, but if it is locked, this means you can log in with your email (and I'll give you permission to edit any time it's locked). If you want that! Thx for bearing with me, though!
  18. Okay. I had to revert back to a sheet from two hours ago. If you entered information during that time, ya gotta re-enter it. Sorry! Here's the link: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AriON5PQlVdtdHlKMUhJYlo0bEVXREcxdlJVYUFibnc&hl=en&authkey=CNHpkd4P
  19. Ugh. Not again. I'll work on it. Not like I was very productive tonight anyways. But on another topic, I'm afraid this gov't shutdown will seriously affect our applications. We need to send out medical clearance form to IIE, who will then send it to the State Department for review. Unless those employees looking at our apps are deemed "essential" then I think we will be in limbo before we receive clearance to start doing everything else. Hmm ...
  20. Yup. I got a small white envelope from the German Commission with more details of the award. Then I had to email them to give them my permanent address, where they will send everything, which will make life more difficult. For example, I requested the language course and then they will resend that letter to my home address, rather than current. And I think after getting through the medical clearance, they will send more information to the permanent address.
  21. Why do some people get two reviewers and some get three? Is there criteria for when an app gets three reviews?
  22. Yeah, I think we earn 50 Euro less per month, since we just sit and research. BUT that'd be awesome if you got placed near Frankfurt. I lived in Kassel (not the best place in Germany) for three months a few summers ago, but the places around Hessen are amazing, such as Hann-Muenden and then there are some great forested areas around there ...
  23. Congrats! It's about time German ETAs heard! It's much later than last year. I also find it odd that the full grants heard back very early and then there was that weird lull. So I'm thinking all German applicants (full or ETA) should be finding out soon ... I don't remember if there were still a few full grants waiting to hear back ... Did you get a placement for where you'll be doing your ETA? I forget, but which states did you 'request'?
  24. Are people still not able to access the spreadsheet w/o entering their Gmail? If so, here's the link w/o having to do that: https://spreadsheets...uthkey=CNHpkd4P You can still request to have it shared with your personal email ... but I wasn't sure why I was getting so many requests ... Congrats on everyone who has heard! Now schedule those physical exams!
  25. If you read last year's thread, I think it also depends on each country's funds. I think Turkey somehow found more funds for more ETAs. But I'd just email your regional adviser to try and see what number you are on that list. But it is still early in the game as others mentioned, and at least you have that to your advantage ... I mean, you could have been notified as an alternate late May!
