  1. @starsloth Welcome! Nice to know your interests! I am yet to hear back from 5 schools but I's already thinking about a 2nd round of applications too! I am not considering this to be a 'waiting period' anymore - just going about my work as usual, at least trying to!
  2. I just wish all the schools at least send their rejections so that I could get back to work without worrying. It is excruciating that they don't have specific dates by which they would respond and most graduate offices do not reply to mails :/ I'm completely okay with acceptances and rejections both, but I'm just tiered of waiting and worrying.

  3. From what i gather, getting into grad school with funding depends on a lot of factors and as applicants, we cannot possibly have control over all of them. The way I think of it is: I have done what I have done, I have made a few mistakes in my application too, but there's nothing I can do to change it now, so there's just no use worrying about it! I've done my part -they'll do there part, if I get in, it's great, if I don't it's just as great, really, because I'll have other work to do (everyone does) and next year I'll put in a better application if I want. Of course, it is not easy (read impossible) to stop worrying, but it's just part of life, ain't it?
  4. Great to hear that! Congratulations!!! I feel more positive with this news! Btw, no interview?
  5. Hey! I'm all the same - no, a bit worse: I have rejections from Berkeley and Northwestern too, waiting to hear from Brown, NYU, Stanford, PLUS Cornell, UC Davis and Maryland, no interviews, nothing. I guess Stanford must have given out interview invitations, as the website said 'end of January'. I wrote to the graduate office, but no reply. Brown Graduate Office wrote a few days ago to say that they have not started making decisions. NYU - I read in the previous year's thread that results come out mid-March, so may be we shouldn't worry about that yet!? How did your CUNY interview go?
  6. But they were accepting applications!!? How strange and how irritating!
  7. @lemonboo- I have got a rejection from NW already - I guess it's a good sign that you did not! But I wrote to Brown to find out and they said they have not extended interviews yet (15th Feb)! @KTF87- NW and NYU top all the lists that I found! Given that the discipline formed in these two departments, they are definitely much coveted! Congratulations to you!
  8. @scurvs22 - true, at least some rejections should have been out! Also, Brown results are not out yet, are they?
  9. We've all been so quiet... Any news to share, anyone? I have still not heard from 6 schools and I feel I am not going to hear from them at all :/
  10. Oh okay! I didn't hear back from them yet - so just asked!
  11. @dopamine_17 that's great! Best of luck for the interview and congratulations @scurvs22 thank you, I am under the same impression, but I guess, there is some sort of quota for international student intake each year, depending on funding situation... Well, fingers crossed! US is the best place to get a PhD for English speaking people, except for the UK (where I got my master's), and acquiring funding there is almost impossible now... The rate at which the world is closing down, it would possibly be even more difficult next year.
  12. Thank you so much for the tip! Yes, I get it now... And congrats on the offer
  13. Hey! Nice to know you are applying to Stanford! I am so glad I found you! I really wanted to ask: Has a tab called 'official documents request' recently opened itself in your Stanford application status page? I don't know what to do with it (since I have already sent official documents to Stanford as a part of the application) and the office is not replying for the last few days - they are generally very prompt. Any idea about this?
  14. Coming back after a long time - congratulations to @scurvs22 and @lemonboo! Great to see more people on the thread! @Gamb1t - I hope I understand how frustrating it is, since I'm more or less in the same state... two rejections so far. I have similar academic records, publications and professional experience, as you said and I know that I have got really good LoRs. But I guess there are always other factors that we can't control! I am also an international applicant and I wonder how that is affecting my chances, given the current political scenario...
  15. Lemonboo, scurvs22: I was travelling, so dropping in here later than I would have liked! Thanks for the messages - Berkeley's bad news, but there's still hope in the others I guess! Any other interviews for you guys? Also, someone just told me that international applications often have a different processing time, I wonder if that makes sense!
  16. Yeah, I have finally given the links in my resume. Unfortunately, I mostly have hard copies and they are not in English... Only two to present!
  17. scurvs22: Thank you! That's a helpful reply! Berkeley interview - No! I wish I could say yes! Who was interviewing for Berkeley?
