    ugh yes.
i'm also glad to be included. but on the other hand, now that i've gotten my hopes up, it feels like i'm watching them get crushed in slow motion.

It's pretty cruel! Like, glad to be included on some sort of list, at least as a metric for other programs, but also totally nauseating.

Seriously! I haven't heard back either, and I'm losing my mind a little bit. Ambiguous emails and Doodle polls are probably the worst possible way to go about conducting/planning interviews.

Lurker here. Have not allowed myself on this site until I got the strange Chicago interview email last week, and now I must know what the deal is. Has anyone heard back yet?

    Not me.
I've been checking my email compulsively for the past two hours and am starting to resent U Chicago. Who thought it would be a good idea to inflict such a procedure upon already anxious applicants?

    I GOT INTO MADISON!!!!!
I just spent 20 minutes sobbing into my hubby's shirt. I'm kind of in disbelief. Had written off the option because I messed up the formatting of my writing sample, so I guess this means that those things don't matter too much. I'm so excited!
Hoping all of you who applied to OSU hear back soon!

Hi ThePomoHipster! unless a member of the admissions committee happens to be lurking, i would assume that no one here has a definitive answer to your question.
but my general strategy for remaining sane throughout the admissions process has been to expect the worst. that way, i can be prepared in the case of bad news and pleasantly surprised if things unexpectedly go my way. my partner helps me out with that too, e.g. whenever i am like, "i will probably hear from X school this week!", he looks me in the eye and says, "come on, you're not going to hear from any schools this week, next week, or the week after that."

I've been placed on a waitlist for Duke's Ph.D. in English program. Let the waiting continue... 5 more to go!
Good luck to everyone out there!

    haha agreed!
And congrats!!! What a weird way to notify for interviews, but if they follow through with scheduling--kill it!

Hope you get better news from another school soon—and in a less maddening form.

I, too, am a longtime lurker, but I'd like to step out of the shadows to claim this one! I was stunned to hear back so early, and with a university-wide fellowship nomination to boot!
Congrats to those who've heard positive things already...and best of luck to those still waiting! I have 8 more programs to hear from yet, so fingers are still crossed here for more good news.

One school sent me a rejection letter in the form of a PDF file named "regrets." I'd like to tell you I didn't bother to open the file after seeing the name, but I did anyway.

Also, to not diverge from the topic:

    55. Read the Complete/Collected Works of a poet. I'm working through the recent 1000+ page Adrienne Rich Collected Poems and it is glorious.

Hi, so I received an Acceptance email on Tuesday. I actually didn't want to open it, because the email just said Admission Decision. Very ominous. But I figured I would open it and then go to whateber online portal later and, to my surprise, it said Congratulations!

It's DePaul University. It's the only MA program I applied to so it's kind of Plan B, but I really like the program, so as far as backup plans go, it's definitely one I'm happy about. And it's so much pressure off of me to know that I can get 8 rejections and still be going somewhere in the fall.

Feel free to post your acceptances here. And maybe Rejections and Waitlists as well if you feel comfortable with that (unless you want to start a separate thread).

Oh lord, as a Canadian believe me, Justin Trudeau is not the wonderful dreamboat he is portrayed as. He's currently pushing pipelines through unceded Indigenous territory, accepting political donations from wealthy business people in exchange for meetings, and backsliding on promises he made about electoral reform. He's another dangerous political hack, the only difference is that he's pretty and has mastered the art of hollow "progressive" press-statements.

I was being serious and humorous at the same time. I thought I had read 3/4 somewhere on the school's website.
Fyi I'm not applying to schools only for prestige... thanks @poliscar for your message!
