  1. Just chiming in here to say that I also haven't heard a peep from my department's Fulbright-Hays coordinator. I sent an email but I'm not expecting anything. At first was wondering whether they only sent emails to people who won the award but as the tweet demonstrates that's clearly not the case...or at least not across the board! Solidarity w/all of you still waiting to hear back ❤️
  2. Congrats! I just woke up to a very nice email from my POI, too!! Sounds like you have some great options between Cornell and Yale. I'm now going to have a very tough time choosing between Penn, Cornell, Rutgers, and NYU. I'm so grateful to be in this position, though.
  3. Is anyone still waiting to here anything at all from Cornell? From the boards it seems like in past years they've been one of the last places to release decisions, but I'd still like to know something soon either way.
  4. Hi there! I did my undergrad at UChicago in their history/chss departments. UChicago is a little different than its peers because we don't have a "graduate school of arts and sciences," but the disciplines are all housed within different "divisions" that are responsible for both undergraduate and graduate education. At UChicago, history and CHSS are both considered "social sciences" so they're housed within the the Division of Social Sciences, which is separate from the Division of Humanities, etc. Does that make sense/clarify anything? I know I only did undergrad at UChicago, but I'm pretty familiar with both the history and CHSS programs/faculty if you have any questions!
  5. Does anyone know (or, rather, has anyone heard) anything about Yale and Cornell? I'm 95% sure Penn is the one for me anyway, but it would be nice to hear something either way.
  6. I suspect Penn is the one for me as well...!! My subfield is indeed modern European. Looking to work with Sophia Rosenfeld/Warren Breckman/Vanessa Ogle, probably.
  7. I did too!!! Congrats to you, and good luck to everyone else. I'm over the moon.
  8. Yeah, I wasn't sure either, so I just bought tickets. But I'm lucky because I'm flying in from Chicago so tickets are relatively inexpensive to pay for out of pocket, and I have a handful of friends in NYC already so I knew I would have somewhere to sleep. They really should let people know soon, though--especially for those of you coming from abroad. I didn't realize how quick the turn around would be between decisions and campus visits! It makes it difficult to plan even when you're a quick two-hour flight away...
  9. @ziggysunshine I was also wondering about travel reimbursements for NYU... I was also admitted to the joint PhD with the IFS, and all of my contact has been with my POI there who, though he trained as a historian (w/my undergrad thesis advisor actually lol), he's technically in NYU's French department. All that's to say I haven't yet spoken to anyone from the NYU's actual history department. Though I do know that the admitted student visit days are March 3-4, if that helps.
  10. Fyi I think Rutgers is releasing decisions because I just got an acceptance email !!
  11. @OHSP did you already get the official email from the grad school w/funding info and all that good stuff? When my POI emailed me to tell me I was accepted, he said I would be getting an official email "in the next few weeks"...?
  12. @OHSP I got an email from my POI this afternoon. I don't know if my timeline is different from yours, though, because I was admitted to the joint PhD program? Will let you know if I hear any other details!
  13. Aaaaah I got into NYU's history and french studies joint phd!!!!!!!!!! I am over the moon to have gotten in anywhere. I had myself convinced I might not make it this cycle. I don't have any details on funding yet because I only got an email from my POI saying that the two departments recommended me for admission, and that I'll be getting a formal acceptance email w/all that other stuff soon. Did anyone else hear from NYU? Is anyone else doing the joint phd w/french studies?
  14. This morning I got a really friendly from my POI at Penn telling me that it was a pleasure to meet me and following up on a question about workshops I asked at the end of my interview last week. She also sent along the names of two other professors in the department she thought I should know/with whom I should potentially be in touch. She said she looked forward to be in touch again very soon. This doesn't mean anything either way, does it? I'm assuming so, but I don't really know how this works. I didn't send any followup emails either, so this came more or less out of the blue. Thoughts, anyone? Also @OHSP glad to hear your Penn interview went well! What's your subfield, btw?
  15. @OHSP I'm glad I could help! I honestly think will vary based on your POIs. Also, they gave you more than 24 hours notice for your interview?! I literally got an email yesterday morning saying they wanted to do it the next day, so I had almost no time to prepare. Good luck to you next week! Also I've never heard of Princeton doing interviews. I know a couple people from UChicago who are currently grad students there, and they were never interviewed.
