  1. Same!! Nothing yet except the implied rejection from Chicago. I’m super anxious about Duke because last year the notifications went out in the last week of January, and then everything seems to go crazy starting in Feb. Fingers crossed to hear back from Duke soon and Northwestern shortly after... ?
  2. I'm simply going mad waiting for more Duke responses now that they've begun... the randomness of their process is so frustrating
  3. anyone had any more news from Duke? last night’s acceptances really tripped me up and now I can’t stop refreshing the portal...
  4. just checked my own Duke portal in a fit of anxiety. nothing there yet but fingers crossed for some kind of news soon...
  5. replied to your post in the acceptances thread, but congratulations again!! this is amazing and such a perfect start to the admissions cycle!
  6. Congrats! That’s awesome news! ahh another school to mourn on my end ?
  7. Ok dumb minute please, but how are you all seeing ‘decision pending’ on your applications?? Most of mine are through ApplyWeb and it just says ‘submitted’...
  8. Same, same, in my mind also Chicago was a great fit... but guess not lolz ha ha
  9. Aw man when I applied to Chicago, it was my biggest ‘this probably won’t happen but would be amazing if it did’ school and I thought I was fully prepared to get a rejection, but now not getting an interview email stings so hard... But anyway, congrats and good luck to everyone that (it seems) made it onto the long list!
  10. That... doesn’t make me nervous at all!! ?
  11. Same, also no interview request from Emory. ?Bit of a bummer to start with but oh well...
  12. Just submitted the last of my 15 apps! Gonna peace out for a few weeks to try to get a life. Good luck to everyone finishing up! See ya'll in a bit for that sweet sweet decisions stress. ?
  13. Is everyone firmly in the waiting stage now? I'm trying to finish up a secondary writing sample for one of my apps (why why why do some schools ask for two samples??) and it's such rough going at this point... I just want to take a nap.
  14. Yeah, it’s a weird situation. Anyway, I guess I’ll take another sober look through through the faculty profiles and my own SOP and decide what to do. And also, $120?? I mean, I understand grad school apps aren’t cheap but this is the most expensive that I’ve encountered!
  15. Ahh that’s equally reassuring and scary!
  16. Does anyone feel like their research interests have shifted since beginning the application process? Or perhaps not shifted, but been refined/clarified a bit? I’m trying to finish up my last three applications for January and I’m realising that one of the schools is actually a pretty poor fit, even though according to my notes I initially had some POIs picked out. Seriously debating if I should go ahead and apply anyway, since my profs have all sent in recommendations... but on the other hand, it’s $120...
  17. So this might be a bit of wishful thinking, but do we know if UChicago does interviews for everyone they admit? Or does it also have a history of accepting some without interview?
  18. Same... I keep wanting to get it over with but at the same time, as long as I keep working on apps, I don’t feel like I’m in the waiting phase yet..
  19. Applied to my 12th school last night and right before uploading the same CV I’ve been using for the previous 11 apps, I realised that for one of my languages I wrote: ‘Advanced reading proficiency, intermediate reading/writing proficiency’ when I had meant ‘speaking/writing’... ?
  20. Ohh I really enjoy Dostoyevsky. Brothers Karamazov was a favourite of mine for a while but I recently re-read Crime and Punishment a few times over for a paper and I think it’s edged out on top after all. Will be curious to hear what you think of The Idiot!
  21. The Rise and Fall of Adam and Eve has been on my to-read list for a good long while! I’ve still got a few apps due in Jan and then it’s all about my towering tbr pile.
  22. I mean, I think so, too. I get deadlines are deadlines but to throw away an app just because it narrowly missed the midnight deadline (it’s not like I’m submitting it after they’ve already begun to review) seems a bit extreme. Ah, guess we’ll see how it turns out! I’m just happy that after weeks of obsessively re-reading and re-writing my SOPs, I got 6 more applications off my neck.
