  1. Sorry for the bad news. I don't really see why it is necessary to acknowledge a rejection, nor do I think that this is considered normative. But it wouldn't hurt to contact a POI, especially if s/he is someone you're interested in keeping in touch with.
  2. Thanks menge! Where did you catch wind of that information, if you don't mind me asking? Feel free to msg me if you're not comfortable sharing publicly.
  3. Anyone know if UVA or Brown have officially ranked waitlists? UVA stated in an email that I am "a top candidate," but it sounds like that's just their generic letter that they send to everyone on the waitlist.
  4. Offers have definitely been sent out for Union. Don't lose heart, though, because they do not announce their waitlist
  5. Does Yale not waitlist? If not, then what does the school do if/when not enough admitted applicants accept?
  6. Anyone else here waitlisted at UVA?
  7. Congrats jsant! U waitlisted anywhere else? Just in case the info can help anyone else here.
  8. Thanks. I'm guessing that there is the added factor that a lot of people admitted to multiple programs will also be visiting potential schools and mulling over decisions. It may be a while before any news come rolling in to those on waitlists.
  9. When do people typically begin to get off of waitlists?
  10. Couldn't have said it better. The big question for me is what awaits me on the other side of purgatorial suffering.
  11. I should have named the forum I just started "Waitlists" or "Waitlist Movement" or something along those lines, instead of "Choices and Decisions."
  12. We are in the same boat (4 waitlists). Do you know where you stand on those waitlists?
  13. Pretty certain that decisions are sent out by the GSAS simultaneously for the department as a whole, not by each subfield at different times.
  14. Yes, that is the practice of most schools
  15. Brown sent out its acceptance letters first week of Feb. Sent out notifications of the waitlist the following week.
  16. Second on the waitlist at Union
  17. Wait this is UVA you were talking about? Or brown. Just confused because of ur disclaimer that you don't know anything about UVA.
  18. I suppose I can get this going. I am on 3 waitlists: UVA (TEC), Brown (RCT), and PTS (Theology). Brown has told me that the waitlist is "very short," and UVA has told me that it is "not very long." At least for the past few years, quite a few of entering PTS students have been off the waitlist, but I fear that I may be towards the bottom there. Anyone know anything about the situation at any of these schools? How frequently does UVA and Brown admits students off the waitlist?
  19. Took @menge's suggestion and started a new topic under "Religion" for people to discuss their decisions. Check it out! Hope that it can be of help.
  20. Menge, the one who started the 'PhD Applications Fall '17 Season' topic, mentioned that it may be a good idea to start a new discussion where people can share their decisions--where they will accepting or rejecting offers, and where they are waitlisted. So, if you are willing, let's start up some conversations, and hopefully, those of us who are interested in the same schools can work something out.
  21. So far, no one here has spoken up about being a co-applicant to the UTS PhD program. But since many of us are in the same place of hoping to get in SOMEWHERE, I'lll share this. Seems that UTS acceptance letters have already been sent out. That's the last of the schools to which I've applied, and that means I have 0 acceptances out of 6 applications. Feeling like ****
  22. Any other fellow Union applicants out there?
  23. Waitlisted at PTS... That's THREE waitlists I have to wait for.... =[
  24. Now have officially heard back from all the universities I applied to. Yet to hear back from 2 seminaries I applied to: UTS and PTS. IDK if I can wait another week.
  25. I hate to be bearer of bad news bijou2017, and one can't be 100% certain until the official letter comes... But at this point, that is what it looks like.
