  1. Got rejected from UCSB today. Stings like crazy because I had attended their open house and everything. What this means is that I in all likelihood got rejected from each of the programs I applied to (still waiting on U Maryland, but I've more or less written that one off). I don't know what people from past cycles have done when they've been universally rejected, but in my case I really think that I need to spend some time away from school altogether and figure out whether pursuing the PhD is the right lifestyle move for me. C'est la vie!
  2. @ejpril88 The UCSB Grad Open House is later this week, with admissions offers to the program to be made after that event. Also still waiting on U Maryland.
  3. Rejected by U Washington via email today. This one really stings because I was such a good fit for UW and it had been my top choice school for years. If you're a UW applicant who still hasn't heard anything, then you have probably been accepted or waitlisted.
  4. Does anybody know what is going on with U Washington yet? Their app was due on 12/15 and I haven't heard anything since then.
  5. Rejected by UCSD via email on 2/11.
  6. Got my rejection from UCSD. Stings. I think that the adcomm figured that I just wasn't a good fit. FYI my interests are in Political Communication and Media Studies. Still waiting on UW and U Maryland.
  7. Bolding mine. This is me right now; glad to know I'm not the only one completely in the dark about what's happening vis-a-vis UW. Judging from past years on the "Results" tab, it's conceivable that those of us who have not yet been contacted by UW have either (a) been admitted, (b) made it past the "initial screening" stage, or (c) been waitlisted.
  8. Is anybody here going to the UCSB grad open house? If so, more info was sent out today about that. I imagine that I'll see you there!
  9. It's kind of agonizing seeing so many people here getting acceptances already, when I have yet to hear anything beyond my UCSB grad open house invitation (which technically did not include an admissions offer). In my head, I've more or less written off U Maryland at this point - given the info I see on the "Results" tab - which leaves UW (my top choice!), UCSB, and UCSD. Because I am approaching the PhD level immediately after undergrad, and because the majority of Comm. PhD programs require a MA for admission, my options for possible programs were necessarily limited to departments who only require a BA. I did have quite a lot of research and conference presentation experience in undergrad, though, which I felt I did a good job of describing in my SoP.
  10. A search on the "Results" tab tells me that at least one person was accepted by U Maryland on Feb. 1. Hmm, I haven't gotten any correspondence from them yet, so how should I feel?
  11. I received my open house invite via email on 1/20. The attached invitation letter does not contain an admission offer, but asserts that such offers will be made shortly after the open house event.
  12. Hi all! I just registered. I applied to four PhD programs in Comm. Most also give out MA degrees as well, which is important to me since I am coming into this directly after undergrad. The programs I applied to are the following: UCSB - Invited to attend a grad school open house on Feb. 23-25. UCSD - No response University of Washington - No response, which is killing me because this was my top school and I see that others have already gotten rejection notices! University of Maryland - No response The wait is pretty agonizing. I routinely log into my application pages online and none of them have moved beyond the "submitted" label. Good sign?
