When is Northwestern’s visit? Anyone knows?

Hi everyone! So we talked a little bit about visitation weekends on other threads and we mostly discussed what to ask POIs, DGSs or how to dress up. However, if I am not mistaken, we never touched upon what should we not talk about during these visits. I am asking both admitted students from last years and this year that what should we be careful about discussing. For example, should we compare our financial packages with other students or should we talk about current policy issues and so on. Please feel free to respond and ask your questions about what to avoid talking about during these visits.

You probably won’t receive anything formal but some POIs might email during the weekend to tell you got in.

I got a question for you regarding the summer funding. So that 17k is paid in a 9-month period. Do you have a chance to continue assistantship during summer and earn extra 5k or are there any summer funding available? I checked the website but it is too vague and uninformative.

Claiming the UNC admit from yesterday. I was assuming it to be a rejection but I guess they send decisions really slow. Until you receive the rejection letter, nothing is over ?

Thanks. Regarding your question, I received an email in the middle of the night (weird) saying that a decision has been made on my application. I checked the website and saw the result.

Haven’t been posting for a while regarding results. Just wanted to share that I got an acceptance from UT-Austin and rejections from Duke, UMich, and UCLA. I thought UMich was a good fit but odds of getting in were low so sad but not surprised. UCLA and Duke were not good fits and I realized that just before rejections came in but it still hurts. On the other hand, UT is a really good fit and now I got two strong options. Overall, I think this week I got a taste of what academia is like, getting rejections back to back and then some acceptances. In addition to that, I realized once again that it all comes down to fit.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with calling them. People do that all the time.
