I'm going to bump this very old thread because I just got accepted into the MA in English program and, if there is already a thread, it is a bit redundant to make a new one. Has anyone else gotten offer from WVU on this forum? If so, would you like to chat about the program?

I got into WVU's MA program! I woke to a lovely voicemail from the director of the program! I am so excited!

I'm in the same position. Hoping it just means they haven't gotten to everyone yet. Cool cool, well hopefully we will all be hearing good news!

There are rejections and acceptances for Brown on the board yet I have heard nothing. Does anyone have any information on this? Also, congrats! I have yet to hear back from PSU. How did you find this out?

I have still yet to hear anything it is driving me a bit crazy. No acceptances, no rejections, just radio silence.

Congratulations! Do you know if WVU sent out MA acceptances today as well? I have yet to hear from them.

WVU should be notifying this week based on past years which is exciting.

I think it is fair to assume at this point that I have been rejected from PSU and Maryland despite hearing nothing from either. They were both reaches so I am not too surprised. I still have 6 other programs to hear from so hopefully I won't strike out completely. Sincerest congratulations to all those who were accepted, though!

Oh yeah, As I Lay Dying is a great book too. It is a really dark read and it always surprises me that he wrote it when he was a janitor at U of Mississippi.

I have yet to read Absalom, Absalom!, but it has been on my to read list for forever. My first conference presentation that was not at my school was on The Sound in the Fury so William Faulkner is near and dear to me. Light in August is a high quality novel, my dude.

You can, but I was told by their assistant director that they tend to favor people coming straight out of their undergrad. They do accept people, though, and I would definitely consider reapplying.

Broadly, I am interested in 20th-21st century American literature and the digital humanities, but more specifically I am interested in science fiction, political and ethical theory, the representation of bodies subjected to violence, and technologies influence on literature and vice versa. You? I see stuff in your signature, but do you have any specific projects in mind?

Yeah, I feel you. The program is a crazy good fit for me, and, because of the nature of the program, I probably would not have a good shot of getting in after I got a Masters degree from another institution.

I just had an extensive conversation with my elderly great aunt about the anxiety that comes with waiting for acceptances/rejections, but she assured me that she has been praying for me so I should be good. Despite not being religious at all, I found this very sweet. Also, Penn State should be notifying today or tomorrow which will be my first for sure acceptance or rejection. Does anyone know if they traditionally inform people rejected at the same time that they notify those who have been accepted?

Yeah....I have been anticipating something all week. It is definitely nerve wracking.

Waiting to hear from programs has especially hit me hard with the inactivity of this three day weekend.
