I'll be starting grad school this fall and have been considering getting succulents for my new apartment! Although I suppose the first step would be to actually secure said apartment...

I was accepted only into Pratt but decided to defer, probably won't end up going due to the potential debt but would like knowing that option is available.
Good news is I was accepted into a program called the New York Arts Practicum this summer and will be working as an apprentice to William Powhida!!!!!!!

I'm so excited to get myself to NYC, make connections and work with Powhida I've been following his work for awhile.  (Plus he's an alumni of Hunter so that's a potential good reference.)
I forgot to meet the deadline for NYAP, they reached out to me and let me finish my application and waived my fee.  They then put me with the mentor/artist I really wanted, and waived half the tuition for me in scholarship and work exchange.  The world is telling me this is meant to be. 

Update: I'm at a 2 now. I received my acceptance email from RIT on the 13th so yay! RIT doesn't follow the April 15th rule so I have until May 1st to put in my deposit. The little anxiety I have left is finding an apartment, maybe last minute applying for an assistantship, etc.

I'm very excited to have been offered a spot at Rutgers––I received word yesterday from Hanneline on Easter, no less. I look forward to meeting some of you this year, and feel free to reach out if you also plan to attend Rutgers and have been lurking on here.
Fingers crossed for everyone on any wait lists––I can empathize with the prolonged uncertainty. For myself, it was super helpful making new work in the interim, sending in some grant and residency applications (one which already led to a studio visit with a curator/gallerist), and spending time outdoors. 

Wishing everyone the best with your results, big moves, and art-making practice. It's such a privilege to be able to pursue our work in this current political climate. We are all in this together, and it's great to have a forum to freak out about the whole process as well!

I definitely hear you. Kind of explains my MFA of choice (although with the sciences also facing budget cuts, will I even have journals to illustrate for?).
My Bachelor's degree is a Bachelor of Science--I majored in biology as an undergrad. I've always felt a strong affinity to the arts however, so medical illustration is my personal chosen career path that can hopefully combine my two loves all while earning me a living wage.

Turned down the offers from Hunter, St. Louis, PSU, Syracuse, UT Austin, Cornell, UChicago and SMFA Boston. Truly, best of luck for those in any of their waitlist! You deserve the opportunity to study at these schools than I do. They all offered me some pretty incredible scholarship packages except Hunter, including two full rides, so I hope it goes to those who truly deserve and need... I will be joining University of Illinois at Chicago in the coming fall! Hope everyone's making decisions that will help achieve their academic and professional goals. Xo

Heading to RISD in the fall! I just let the other schools know I won't be attending, so hopefully that means good news for people interested in those programs!

Looks like MFA 2018 for me! I'm gonna defer my acceptance to Pratt and continue to work hard next year. 
Good news is I passed the first round of interviews for the New York Arts Practicum! I got an email from Dannielle Teger yesterday to set up getting an interview for summer mentorship with her! ????

After negotiation, I got a full ride from UIC! Hooray! I am 99% certain that I will be joining you, @dunton!

I decided to email my admissions counselor directly to see if he could possibly provide me with an updated timeline for when we could hear back about decisions. Got an automatic response saying he is away in China at the moment.

Seeing you guys coping with issues in your life which are both professional and personal, I couldn't help but feel humbled that I have been fortunate to not have to go through similar problems in my life. Culture in India is a lot different that what it is in western countries. Basically its almost always the case that parents help their children complete their education, no matter for how long or how much it might cost. And this is not just for the affluent types, but even for people who can't afford to fund their children's education. Parents take loans, sell out stuff (mostly land and gold jewellery, something Indians have plenty) and fund their children. The upside to this is that we are not in a bank or federal debt that leeches out interest money from our life. The downside is that we have family pressure sometimes to return whatever we took so that they can continue with their own lives peacefully too. One of my friends who is attending USC (one of the most expensive schools for international students in US) is being funded entirely by her parents. The tuition itself accounts for everything her parents earned throughout their lifetime (around USD 70K for 2 years), but they're doing it. Her parents barred her from doing any part time job too so that she can concentrate on her studies fully. Seen numerous such examples throughout my connections. 
In my case, although I've always been supported by parents both emotionally and financially, I have been working as a consultant for many companies throughout my undergrad and finally got a job which makes enough to give them back whatever they put in. Even for my masters, I have enough savings to pay out tuition fees, and use the stipend to fund my living costs. 
Anyways, just came to vent about how none of the 5 schools I applied to have replied to me, even when I applied in November 2016! This wait is so frustrating sometimes. Two of the universities are saying we can hear back by March end, so I am basically praying my life away to get through this week of wait. Whew...
