  1. (If I'm too late responding to this thread than I apologize) but I really don't think it's a huge deal not knowing what you want your dissertation / thesis will be. Graduate school is about broadening your ideas and your horizons. There are a plethora of subjects and topics that the average student has yet to learn about, and I think bringing up your undergraduate work and interests may help you connect with the faculty members / advisor and they may lead you down a path that you may not have even considered. Be honest about it, they know you're not coming in with all of the answers. In the program I just got accepted into, we don't even start exploring thesis ideas until Year 2.
  2. I think it really depends on the program. In my undergrad experience, all of the faculty and staff in the art or film department all introduced themselves by their first name and encouraged the students to call them as such. I would assume it would be the same in graduate school - any MFA type programs are probably more lenient on what students are allowed to call them. However, I would think it's more common to address your graduate professors in an "informal" manner (ie. first name basis) rather than their last name. If someone is a Dr. though, I think it would be wise to err on the side of caution until they tell you otherwise.
  3. I just worry because according to past submissions, if one doesn't hear by February they are probably rejected... this year seems really weird though, apparently nobody has heard from them in terms of any of the MFA programs (except in theatre, I think). I'm getting impatient as well. Good luck to you, it's my top choice as well! Keep me notified if you hear anything, I'll do the same!
  4. Hey all! First time poster here! Has anybody who applied to any of the Arizona State University (ASU) MFA programs heard anything? I applied for Intermedia with a secondary focus in Photography. I called a week ago to see about notifications and they told me I should hear something by March 13th, but I haven't. Does anyone know anything?
