idk if this is something that you want to read or not, but it seems necessary to be shared widely

I believe having diversity for diversity sake is the wrong approach.
Each school seems to foster a different type of working environment, supporting different types of communities, and varying practices. In my opinion a school should continue to attract the most interesting artists, and accept these artists based on work, rather than background. One would think any engaged artist in the current climate has some consideration of these issues, regardless of their own background.
Of course there is more than enough writing on the relationship between art and politics, and more than enough opinions as well  I am sure being the only black student in an MFA program can be strange, and bring unnecessary attention, but that is also your strength!
At the end of the day, research these MFA programs heavily!

Fuzzylogician, there have been plenty of papers showing the opposite (as I am sure you know). So let's not tout your results (which we have no way of verifying either), as infallible.
I'm not interested in denying the presence of discrimination --- and by the way, discrimination cuts both ways. I've always found the whole STEM thing curious though. There's so much focus on STEM. Yet, most people don't care about women dominating certain fields like education or nursing. And no one at all cares that men dominate the trades. It seems like when there's underrepresentation at the high end of the desirability scale (i.e. CEOs, stem fields, ect.) there is a significant outcry of discrimination; yet, for lower rungs of the job market, no one cares.
I'm in the camp that doesn't believe there needs to be equal representation across all fields. There's plenty of research that points to significant differences in preferences and interests (and behavior) between males and females, we shouldn't expect these differences not to manifest into larger trends of occupation choice. I'm interested in reducing barriers that prevalent interested people in pursuing choice; but many 'remedies' are put forth to rectify something that might not be discrimination in the first place.

Honestly, no. The Brown name isn't well-known as even being part of the Ivy League outside of the northeast/mid-Atlantic states.

yeah, international students also received need-based funding as long as they provide the documentations (tax returns from home countries (translated + notarized), international certification of finances, etc.). since they couldn't apply for federal loan, yale will provide the loan itself and they could borrow as much as they need. again, i think the debt that they'll accrue is also similar for domestic students, ranging from 20k - 40k solely for living cost. they usually have 100% tuition waiver (it's all come down to how much they + their parents earn really). imo, i think yale has the fairest financial aid for all of its students

hey just to give heads up for yale's financial aid. yes they all received need-based funding. some of my friends received 100% tuition waiver + work study + unit loan. i think the average debt after graduation is probably around 20k - 40k (probably because of loan for living cost), which i think is completely reasonable

nah, you got justifiably called out because you were being a dick to some of the current grad students at yale because you deem their works lame. it's almost as if you forgot art criticism 101 entirely

this is completely unnecessary and not a good look if somehow the adcom figure out who you are. also, it's fine if you think "yale doesn't seem to be the institution it was 10 years ago", however, why the fuck did you apply there in the first place?
