  1. Hello! This is my first time posting here but I am a second time applicant (last tried for 2010-2011). I added my information to the Google sheet, and found that my old entry was still there, it feels like a lifetime ago. Happy to have been recommended again, and I can personally attest to the incredible emotional and mental strength this fellowship process requires. Just by deciding to try, you guys are already winners. Good luck to everyone, and don't let setbacks discourage you! Keep going for your dreams, and don't let self-doubts deter you. It's also perfectly okay to be feeling scared, because courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.
  2. My advisor told me that some countries give out results in a staggered fashion, and each has their own idiosyncratic schedule. That's what I thought might have happened at first, but then I read your comments from Jermaine, so I guess this is not the case.
  3. Wow thanks! So I guess they're hoping for early next week...does this mean they're probably waiting for FSB approval right now? Either way, I guess the wait is soon over for East Asia applicants, good luck to everyone! That tweet is pretty hilarious
  4. Anyone want to ask about China? (I'd ask, but I've already emailed him before twice)
  5. Are "Applications Received" the total amount from back in September or just the finalists after January? China seems to have gone up quite a bit.....~170 to ~230?
  6. Wait so, if HE doesn't expect to hear until April 30th, does that mean we won't hear until early May? Or does that mean WE won't hear until April 30th? They should email the results if it's so late!!
  7. Hello for China applicants (not sure if this applies to other Asia applicants). So there is still no specific info about when notifications will go out, but "it will not be before April 15." :-/ Hope that's somewhat helpful? I personally would tell any jobs/schools/etc not to expect an answer before May 1.
  8. Hmmm, it does seem logical to accept the job offer in case, but I think I'll call Mr. Akeley tomorrow just to try seeing if I could get some clearer information about decision notification dates? So yeah, I'm going to try calling him tomorrow morning, I had another question regarding the CSC app anyway, so I'll try to drop in a quick, "How are China decisions coming along?" Who knows, maybe the response won't be terribly vague. Will update.
  9. Hey, my affiliation was Nanjing Normal University. Sorry for the late reply, I just came back from spring break and had zero internet access. I have this hope that we might hear back sooner this year because a lot of Europe decisions seem to have been made earlier than previous years, but who knows? I wonder if they have made their decisions yet, I assume they have around 100-140ish applications to go through (with there being 70 available grants and all). Here's a question for anyone: I'm in that sticky Fulbright situation where I have to get back to a job about whether or not I will be working for them pretty soon. There's no set reply date but they are putting the pressure on. I'm afraid if I don't let them know soon they will rescind the offer. I am hesitant to ask the Fulbright Asia coordinator because he's been pretty vague and he might just get annoyed, since I already emailed him two weeks ago. I'm not sure what to do (other than obsessively check my mail and hope decisions will come soon). Is it ok to call and ask if decisions have been made?
  10. ccaraway, did you apply to a CSC host institution? Are you filling the application right now? It feels so cruel to me that they make us fill an application and go through all the motions _as if_ we'll win the grant, when we don't know whether or not we'll get it...
  11. I needed to submit an address change to IIE (I emailed Jonathan) and I couldn't help asking about perhaps a hint of when we would be notified. He gave a really vague: "It’s not yet known when the final selection results and clearances will be available. In past years notifications have usually gone out in mid-April." That sort of makes me feel like decisions for China might be a long way away. Just FYI
  12. Uh, I don't know if this was covered already, but are acceptance letters only sent from your country/rejection letters only sent from New York? If so does that mean I didn't get it?? China doesn't have a Fulbright Commission....don't know if that changes things.
  13. Hey there, this is my first posting, but I am on the google spreadsheet (China) and I have been checking this forum ever since January. Anyways, for all those other China applicants, I just got an email from Jane Upton, she mentioned "Final notification of your grant status will be sent out in the next few weeks by IIE's New York office." Her original email was to say my research topic had been approved by my host institution (a CGS school) so I was like YAY?? But then she wrote "It does not mean you have been awarded a grant." :-( What a bummer!! Anyways......I'm really nervous now >< Congrats to all the winners so far!
