Anyone think coronavirus is slowing down the application results process or is it on pace with last year? Seems slower this year.

For those who didnt get into a Phd program right from a ba, then got a masters and got accepted the 2nd time around, I have a few questions. Question 1: Did you change your sample paper or just improve on your ba sample? Question 2: Did you change your area of interest while in the masters program and Question 3: Did you apply to the same programs who turned you down the first go round and then got in the 2nd round, or did you choose new programs on the 2nd attempt?

711fanatic, My understanding is that programs sometimes are given more assistantships some years than others depending on the funding they are given from year to year ( I spoke with a professor about this at a program over the phone (not Georgetown) ). Then they might have to go back to fight for the extra ones they want so can't promise them until they either get a final okay or are shut down on the extra funding.

Hey heaven- New School has in the past not had a great reputation but I dont know if that has changed recently. As for Stonybrook and New Mexico, other than the cost, look at their MA placement into Phd programs by calling the schools and asking for recent placement details.

jslubinski- I am not aware of any doctoral programs that charge tuition since most have tuition included and also a stipend. Is that not the case with your acceptance?

Thanks- wondering more from an etiquette, relationship building standpoint- whether to thank them for their offer , tell them I am waiting for additional information etc

Still no word from Purdue. I only saw one acceptance a while ago-nothing else in results. Anyone have any more information?

To Kent State result poster- did you get an email with the acceptance or did you just decide to check your portal?

It looks like they are about a week behind last years results. I'm guessing something should be out by next week.

Yes I've heard about hidden waitlists and that does seem to be in play with some programs. Congrats on Syracuse! Good school!

Thought we should start a Masters thread for philosophy since results are starting to come in and they are mixed with the Phd right now. It will be easier to find Masters results if they are separated out. Good luck everyone!

Since this is after all the venting thread, does anyone else find it frustrating how haphazardly the results seem to come in? Sometimes an acceptance comes in and then no other result shows for a week, some programs dont even bother to send rejection emails for over a nonth after the acceptances and waitlists go out. I just saw someone post a Syracuse waitlist before anyone posted acceptances. I would just chalk all of this up to the randomness of the grad cafe posters, however I have called a few programs myself and they seem to do things all over the board. Doesnt seem to be that much logic to the process from this end. Just had to rant for a minute here.

Called Stonybrook- all acceptances went out already so if you have nit heard back they said you can assume you are rejected. Don't know when they were planning to send out the rejections...

Anyone know how many are on the waitlist at Binghamton?
