Sorry to hear that Philosofiend. Already checked portal on Friday and today and no notice of any sort. Best of luck on your other apps!
-
Has anyone heard anything from Binghamton? I saw one rejection listed on Friday in Results, but nothing else and nothing this morning.
-
Thanks Glasperlenspieler- makes sense.
-
SO more general question: in what order do most schools do this: Send out acceptances first followed by waitlist and then rejections or is it all over the board on how they do it? Is it done in a trickle or all rejections for instance at once?
-
Okay thanks- and great job on getting the fellowship!
-
Thanks MtnDuck-I stand corrected. Was hoping there was still a chance at Stonybrook.
-
Congrats platonetsocrate! Any idea if all the acceptances are out at Stonybrook? It seems about a week early for them.

Well FearNTrembling, you are not too far off from hearing from Baylor- they usually send out their interview invites in the first week of February. Good Luck!

Should I Still Apply to the Program?
UndergradDad replied to GurdonRamsay's question in Questions and Answers
Keep in mind that most polisci programs are more statistics oriented than history is so check that when looking at programs. -

I noticed the OP does not mention wanting to become a professor. If he is aiming for an academic position and wants to get into a top-tier Leiter type program then the advice given makes sense. If the OP wants to go to grad school because he enjoys philosophy, is not intending to to go into academia etc then he can look at other MA programs. Just wanted to let him know that the Tufts, Brandeis, GS etc are not the only route to go for MA if one is not aiming for academia.

Clinical PhD programs no GRE required
UndergradDad replied to UndergradDad's topic in Psychology Forum
Some good suggestions-thanks everyone! -
Title says it all. I googled but results were not helpful. With the no GRE idea seemingly gaining momentum does anyone know of any decent programs without a GRE requirement?

PhD Programs Proficient in Continental Philosophy?
UndergradDad replied to KarlX's topic in Philosophy
I'm assuming this is not for the current application season, KarlX? -
Check out the website phd stipends and enter the appropriate search terms. Good luck!
-
Yeah I ended up ordering them now. Thanks for the advice.

For those applying to programs with early January deadlines, are you waiting until you get this semesters grades come in (like around the 17th or so in this case) to apply so the transcripts of this semester show up to add to your gpa (gpa will go up with this semesters grades added in)?
-
That’s smart-no such time cushion here! Best of luck to you.

Purdue Philosophy and Literature
UndergradDad replied to UndergradDad's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Yes I was thinking about that- lots of articles out there about the separate humanities departments eventually merging and the "reconfiguring" of the Humanities, but its a crapshoot either way I suppose as to what academia will be like in 10 or even 5 years. -
Low GRE Scores Should I Retake?
UndergradDad replied to InsertNameHere's question in Questions and Answers
One suggestion I would have would be to apply to a few PhD programs that do not require the GRE. If you Google GRE not required PhD, there is a site that has a spreadsheet with English grad programs you can use to choose a few to apply to. Also use the grad cafe results page and look for the results for English programs that have scores noted with a diamond icon so you can see how your scores compare. Good luck to you. -
Great thank you. Did you wait until you had final 1st semester senior grades in to send transcript?
-
I see many of the grad programs ask you to upload a copy of your official transcripts to the application site. If your college uses a system like Parchment, how does that work? Is anyone familiar with that system?
-
Hector549-thanks for your detailed reply. That was very helpful! Olorin-no problem and I get it. As Hector 549 noted it sounds like they don’t have a great placement rate so I understand why you would call them a backup.

Anyone familiar with their Phd program? I am guessing it is not that well known but wondering if it is a decent program.
