  1. Also claiming a Yale admit (CP for those who don't know)
  2. So my friend who is at Harvard reached out to me because he saw my name on the admitted students list. He's a different subfield, so I think (along with the WL claims) this probably means they are done?
  3. I originally got a call and just got an more "generic" email today. They said they accepted 25 of over 500.
  4. I had a few quant courses from undergrad and a pretty good quant GRE (164). I've heard that it's more of a concern if you score below the 80th percentile, but if you score 80th percentile or above, then they are less concerned about the lack of quant courses. The exception for this is if you plan to do formal modeling work/game theory -- then they'll want to see a more robust quant transcript.
  5. I'm CP (I do gender work though, so I also fall into American as a secondary category).
  6. Claiming a rejection from Columbia (email to check the portal this morning). Also claiming a Harvard acceptance (got a call this morning). Only have Yale to hear back from, and after that I'll post my profile.
  7. They sent me a letter with funding info not too long ago. Not sure what the absence of a letter means.
  8. Claiming a Vanderbilt rejection
  9. Claiming an MIT rejection -- standard email
  10. Just got an acceptance to Penn via email (I'm CP for those that don't know already)
  11. Friday, March 27 through Saturday, March 28 -- RSVP by Monday, March 9
  12. Thank you so much -- I'll be happy to post once I've heard back everywhere. Haha luck always plays into graduate admissions -- there's no way to control a lot of the factors that affect admissions (e.g. availability of advisors, funding, etc.). I think I did well for the things within my "control" and overcame some things in my background. But I'll say this: both good performance and luck are necessary but not individually sufficient for admissions to graduate school.
  13. Haha, I'm still trying to figure that out myself! I know I did a pretty good job at the main points that others have talked about (e.g. get good GRE scores, good uGPA, well-crafted SOP, etc.), and I'll be posting my profile and info once the cycle finishes. But honestly, I think I just got very lucky this round. When I talk to POIs, there was a lot of "oh, we just hired this person and this person straight out of grad school who you have great fit with!", which I couldn't have anticipated. I'm not confident that any other application season would have yielded the same results if that makes sense.
  14. I looked it up, and yes, I think I read that when I was first considering applying 2 years back (ended up taking a job so my spouse could finish a Master's).
  15. Wishing you the best of luck -- you are clearly a very gritty individual that any department would be lucky to have! Feel free to DM me if you need anything.
  16. I don't think this is the case based on what I've heard/seen. Also, there are so many applications, and adcomms change from year to year. I say shoot your shot again! A lot of people improve their application and have a successful 2nd time around.
  17. Claiming Stanford (via phone call) and Cornell (via email). I'm pretty shocked -- I didn't expect this. I think it just happens to be a year where my research interests align well -- I doubt I could replicate this any other year. There is a lot out of anyone's control on this (fit, faculty availability, funding, etc.), and I know they could recreate exceptional cohorts 5 times over easily.
  18. Thank you so much -- I would love to connect! And the analysis paralysis is real haha
  19. I've attached what they sent me!
  20. So I'm not sure if they were a troll or not, but I do know that their date for when we have to get back to Michigan for the visiting weekend was a different date that what my letter said?
  21. @Romcomulus thank you so much, this means a lot!
  22. So I didn't hear from POIs until yesterday -- I think it's maybe depending on the schedule/specific POI?
  23. It included my funding info in an attached doc, sent from the Graduate Program Coordinator, so a little bit personalized but still generic.
  24. Claiming a Michigan admit
