  1. this might be what you're looking for: http://www.phdstipends.com
  2. Yes, he commutes to Albany from NYC and has teaching jobs in both places. Don't give up hope - lots of schools pull from their waitlists well into april.
  3. Did you call and see where you are on the waitlists at UConn, UPenn, and Temple? If you are interested in those schools, I would reach out to the grad admission chairs and also to profs you'd want to work with. Also, even though Albany doesn't pay a ton, it'd be possible to supplement your income with adjunct positions at the various CUNY schools after a few years (I know an Albany student who is doing this now).
  4. @yeez That's very useful info, thank you. Also good to hear about ND grads as tenured faculty. I'm not applying from undergrad. I'm currently in an MA program and have taken a long and winding road to academia. Yourself?
  5. Hi @yeez. Yes, I'm going to visit in February. My interest is primarily in culture/ social movements. I have a 3.9 GPA and 162 V/ 153 Q/ 6.0 AW. (My quant score might be my downfall). I agree that full funding would make up for the ranking. However, do you think that candidates from T30 schools are much better placed to receive job offers down the road? Did you apply to ND? What's your area of interest?
  6. I got the invite from Notre Dame (and accidentally entered it twice on the results board). The invite was friendly, though I'm very nervous about the visit. Is anybody else applying to Notre Dame? I know it's not in the T30, but is it still known as a competitive department? Any feedback or experiences about Notre Dame would be greatly appreciated!!
