  1. Hi there! Field/Program: Prosthetics & Orthotics Schools: Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine (NUPOC), Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Pittsburgh Status: Accepted into Northwestern back in January (rolling admissions)! Should be hearing back from the others any day now. Really nervous about GaTech because they have the smallest program cohort and the program director calls well in advance of a decision on applyweb. Have been sick lately so worried my voice sound super weird, but have religiously been attached to my phone and changed it to an obnoxious ringtone so that I won't miss the call. Darn this suspense! P.S. If there are any other MSPO peeps out there, it would be awesome to have someone to talk to. Can seem so lonely with such a small field and almost no one to talk to that understands your struggle lol
  2. Did a results search today and finally found someone else who had applied for a Master's in Prosthetics & Orthotics . It seems we are so few and far between as a community at large that it would just be nice to find someone in my same boat I could connect with.
  3. So I recently caught the flu or a really miserable head cold because I think stressing has weaken my immune system. Thought this would at least be somewhat of a distraction from the unbearable waiting with all the mindless drug-induced sleep, but instead it has been giving me stress dreams on top of an achy everything. It needs to be March already.
  4. I discovered ( albeit mad late) the musical genius that is snarky puppy and it has made the waiting so much more bearable. Straight ministry to my soul!
  5. I found myself in a similar position. I applied to Northwestern, U Pitts, and Georgia Tech for a Master's (3 of only 11 schools that offer my program). I heard back from Northwestern way earlier than I expected I would and had a very short time to provide a reply to their admissions invitation. Had 2 weeks to give an answer because they operate on rolling admissions, and on top of that a 'yes' does not secure spot in program you have to pay a pretty hefty deposit to save a spot. I got the invitation before I even submitted the last application (GaTech). Really waiting to hear from Tech because the program would be so much cheaper with the in-state tuition rather than paying the tuition and living costs to move to Chicago. I ended up paying the deposit to have a safety net in case I get a no from U Pitt and GaTech which are both highly competitive programs. I've been going stir crazy waiting to hear back, but at least I know I have one option open, even if it isn't exactly on the terms that I would have it. Now if I am one of the lucky 14 to be accepted in Tech, that's a whole other headache of deciding where to go. I really hope if I do decide to renege on my Northwestern acceptance that they do not hold a grudge; my field is fairly small and I am also considering their PhD program in the future.
  6. @shadowgunkiller Hi, I attended RPI as an undergrad for biomedical engineering and concentrated in Biomechanics, so I took a few courses in the mechanical engineering department. Couldn't find anything about the ranking for the mechanical program, but the school has a good reputation in the industry as far as I can tell from the industry recruiting at career fair events and such. Might not be as much help as you would like, but will be willing to try and answer any questions or look up old friends from the Mech grad program.
