Just heard from Tennessee! Admitted to the MA program in rhetoric, composition, and linguistics. ?

Still waiting on the “formal” offer myself. In the meantime, I booked my trip and I’ll see y’all in Ames next weekend!

I'll be at Illinois (UIUC) March 8-10! And Iowa State the weekend before, though that's in the English department rather than comms.

Anyone know of a timeline on Tennessee's MA decisions? Starting to get anxious over here!

Thanks so much! Unfortunately, I won’t be. I’d be coming from Alabama, so it’d be quite the trip for only a one-day thing. And the email didn’t say anything about funding, so I couldn’t afford it regardless.

@whitmanifesto It is! I didn't know of their vast archives, though I'll have to check it out now. There are several faculty I'm wanting to work with at UIUC, particularly those that handle American political rhetoric. Do you mind my asking whom you're referring to?

Hoping so! I've applied to their rhet/comp program, but I think they're one that sends them all (rhet/comp, lit, etc.) together.

I'm planning on it! All of my applications were to rhetoric programs, though the only one I applied to that's in a comms department is at Illinois. The rest are in English departments. I'm very interested in public, political, and activist rhetorics, specifically how issues of truth affect public opinion. Some secondary interests in democratic deliberation and debate. Broad, I know.

I received word last week that I had been admitted to the comms program at Illinois! It's a MA/PhD program in communication, but the concentration is in rhetoric and public discourse. Really excited about this one!

Maybe today is the day? I'm hoping so if for no other reason than my sanity's sake.
