Wow! The ASU climb makes sense to me. They’ve gained a great reputation since the last US News rankings. I strongly considered applying there. I did get those acceptances. I’m also considering sociology programs at University of Chicago and Berkeley.

That’s great! Congratulations! I didn’t notice any dramatic changes in the rankings looking at the schools I’m interested in. But that may be a limited perspective. American is down two, Irvine is up two, and Maryland stayed the same. Were there even any shockers?

The rankings making an impact on anyone’s decision?

Those are the main things to be prepared to answer about! You’ll do great. Some programs throw in general job interview questions, like problems you’ve encountered in research and how you overcame them, but the process is much more comfortable in my experience because it’s all about discussing your past research, your current interests, and your knowledge about the program. Go get ‘em.

UCI extended offers this evening! Very excited.

I received a call today with an invite to the event and an email followed this afternoon.

Update: on-campus interviews were extended today by phone, with emails to come shortly.

Anyone hear back from UCI yet? Their prospective student days are February 4-6, so I expect those invitations to go out anytime now.
