I’ve decided to enter the Criminology program at Penn State in the fall! Anyone else made their decision yet?

Hey guys and gals! I just got accepted into Albany's MA program and will be moving up there either this summer/fall. I'm looking for either someone who can recommend an apt. complex/property manager or if you are looking for a roommate shoot me a message.

I've been accepted to Sam Houston with full funding, and quite honestly this school seems like a terrific fit for me. Still waiting on UMass Lowell, FSU, and UCF. From what I've been told, everyone has already received their acceptance/rejections from FSU, so it sounds like I have been waitlisted....I just don't understand why they wouldn't let me know

Hahaha I was just about to log in and reply to your previous comment, actually. I haven't heard anything yet ?
I'm hoping that since they said "last week in February" that means that the decisions will come out IN February (i.e. today!!!). If they were going to send them tomorrow or Friday they totally should describe it as "early March". Granted, I'm probably just reading wayyy too much into their choice of words because I feel like if I have to wait a minute longer I'm going to freak out.
Here's hopin' we hear back today, and both get in!

I know absolutely nothing about FIU or their program. However, I would not suggest accepting an un-funded offer, regardless of maybe having outside funding. I think you would be much better served waiting another year and improving all the areas of your application that you can (GRE scores, Statement of Purpose) and applying to more schools next year, ideally more than 3 if that is financially feasible for you.
I was turned down from both schools to which I applied last year, but applied to 7 this year and have received funded offers.
I hope you hear back from the third school and get accepted with funding!

Hey everyone! With the date rapidly approaching, I was just wondering if any of you will be at Albany's visiting weekend next week! Super excited and can't believe it's already so soon.

Just got my American University decision via e-mail: accepted, fully funded for 4 years. I don't think anyone on this board has mentioned them as a target school, but just in case there are lurkers I thought I would let you guys know

Just got my first acceptance! I'm so happy. (And relieved!) Texas State, four years' guaranteed funding, plus additional summer teaching/research opportunities. Still waiting to hear back from five programs.

Hi Applicants - Congrats on acceptances and try to keep calm to those still waiting! I know it's nerve wracking.
I've debated posting, but ultimately decided to dole out some internet advice that I'm really glad someone gave me on this site when I was applying to PhD programs years ago.
So, from a TT AP (at a school w/o a PhD program, so no skin in the game), my main advice to those deciding on/between PhD programs is absolutely do not go to a program unless they fully fund you. There are many reasons for this, but chief among them:
the debt you will incur w/o funding is enormous and you'll struggle to ever pay it off; w/o funding you won't gain research & TA experience and develop close working relationships with faculty - this will harm you in many ways as a student; if the program does not fund you then they are either on shaky financial ground and/or don't value you enough (this says *nothing* about your actual ability or worth);  if some students are funding & others aren't (which may change year to year) it breeds a competitive environment that will be difficult to exist in for years I know this may not be welcome advice, but I assure you that you'll be much better off in the long run if you wait a year, beef up your CV, and apply again if your only option is an unfunded/under-funded package.

Finally heard back from Cincinnati. I got in! What a relief. Letter said tuition waived, other funding decisions are pending for the next couple weeks. Very excited!

Somebody please reach out to Cincinnati and ask when they'll be sending out decisions, for the love of god.

I haven’t heard anything and I applied there too. All of my emails from them go to my Spam so I’ve been checking back and forth in my email. I’ll let you know if I hear anything!

    Hello everyone, long time lurker.
Finishing up my mscj this semester and applied/applying to 7 schools in a mix of crim, soc, and public policy where I can still specialize in crim.
My CU Boulder application was first on Dec. 1st so I'm thinking their decision will be come any time now.
The stress and anxiety is driving me insane, I changed the settings on my aquamail app to push any emails to my student email instantly but even then I keep refreshing it every 5 minutes.
I also applied to ASU and even though it's only been 2 weeks I keep obsessively checking MyASU and it doesn't help the other schools are Feb 1 deadlines ??

I'm a total basket case! I check my email at LEAST once every 5 minutes. And this whole process is all I talk about to anyone who will listen. As I previously mentioned, I've been accepted to a few places already (which I am very surprised by and thankful for) but it hasn't alleviated my stress/anxiety levels like I hoped it would.
