    28k for 5 years is as good as funding gets at cuny, you should go. you also get access to all the faculty members in the greater NYC area.

    I believe so. I got into two programs ranked similarly to cuny and they both offer tuition remission and pretty good stipends. My sense is that 330 and a good writing sample should be able to get you into a top 20, taking you GPA into account. But this could be a faulty generalization based on my limited experience so take it with a grain of salt.

    I'd work on my writing sample and GRE then reapply. A CUNY Soc Ph.D. (Not to mention Temple and Albany) is not worth taking out loans for.

    U Penn rejects: I'm sorry to see that, and I hope you guys have better offers. Care to tell me how you found out? And if you did not get an email at this point, does it mean that you could be on the waitlist?

    Ok, on behalf of people waitlisted at Notre Dame I'm going to ask everyone accepted there with no intention of going to turn down the offer as soon as you can. We'd really appreciate it!
