    Don't be shy if your school isn't "prestigious." All that matters is the education you get, and the faculty that supports you. Congrats! Is it a funded MA or did you get a scholarship?

    Thanks, that meant a lot! Makes me feel much better about my schools now! No word on funding since I only got a personal email from the professor that I want to work with (is that what POI's are?) but I should be hearing about the offer from the grad school in the next few days

    So I got my firs official rejection. Checked the Cambridge portal and it said “unsuccessful”. The fit wasn’t as good as with Oxford but I liked the idea of doing a 3 year PhD closer to home. So far I’ve been rejected or implied rejected by 3 places that were middle or bottom of my list for one reason or another, but more and more I think I should have taken the advice I was given and aimed lower. Definitely thinking I might get shut out but it won’t really hit until I get rejected by my top schools (Yale, Oxford, Columbia).

    I'm sorry to hear about your rejection, but I wouldn't worry about it too much! As you said, it wasn't a good fit as the others, and this is one school out of 18! You're obviously ambitious, and I think schools will recognize that. Good luck in the next coming weeks! From one POCO to another :)

    I applied to Carleton for the second time this year! The process is especially confusing (so many portals...), even I got frustrated even though I went through the same last year ugh.

    right?! gosh I almost didn't want to apply anymore because the admission process was so confusing and weird. I didn't experience anything like that for my other applications

    @ChelMPH yay another Manitoban!

  4. When I (finally) completed all my applications, I definitely wasn't in an anxious mode. Just continued on with my life. Then, I discovered this website. Best/worst decision. This is all I do now.

    My anxiety levels skyrocket when I see someone posting about getting an early acceptance, already hearing about rejections or any info from the schools that I've applied to . But then, I get so happy and calm when I see people posting that they got into their dream schools, or are just so excited about the program they got into. It's definitely a mixed feeling. I just hope I get into one school.

    Good luck to everyone out there!

    Also, I'm part of the 22-year-old club... whoops

  5. @katie64 I went to UND for my BA and loved it. The faculty is great and they really care about their students. I also know a lot of people who go abroad to Norway for a semester, through UND, and who loved it. You can even minor in Norweigan at UND! If you have any specific questions about the school (though I don't know great detail about the graduate program), feel free to PM me!

  6. I'm a Canadian with a US BA applying for MA in English! I'm applying to some US schools, but also to U of Manitoba, UBC and Carleton. Haven't heard anything from any (and Carleton's deadline isn't until Feb 1st) but UBC and Manitoba are both "under review by the department" ahhhhh!

    Has anyone else applied to Carleton? If so, did anyone else have to go through like 13 steps and 3 different portals just to apply? Sheesh.
